What The Hell Is The Point of Melania Trump?

Because Hillary keeps inserting herself into the conversation by calling Bernie and his supporters sexists, making the elitist statement that she won "the states that mattered," etc.

Also, articles about alleged collusion with Russia tend to have the angle that Hillary was "denied" the presidency by so-called "Russian agents" such as Jill Stein and the "Bernie bros." Of course, they either downplay or ignore the uranium deal with Russia that Hillary was involved in as Secretary of State, how the Clinton foundation received over $100 million dollars from investors in that deal, and how Bill Clinton gave a $500,000 speech to a Kremlin-connected bank. They also downplayed the Hillary campaign hiring a foreign agent (British spy Christopher Steele) to compile the salacious and partially unverified dossier on Trump. Hillary supporters who believe she was robbed of the presidency feel entitled to smear their critics as Russian agents and are convinced that Jill Stein and Donald Trump colluded with Russia, but they refuse to talk about the Clintons' ties to Russian oligarchs and a British spy.

Getting back to the topic of first ladies, I do give Hillary Clinton props for champion universal healthcare in 1993. Not surprisingly, Bernie Sanders cosponsored the bill. Fast forward to the 2016 primaries, and Hillary said “I don’t know where [Bernie Sanders] was when I was trying to get health care in ’93 and ’94.” Maybe the claims that Hillary has brain damage are true because she thanked him for his support at the time. Hillary later flipped her position on universal healthcare (among other issues) because she chose to work for her donors.

If Hillary and her supporters want to relitigate the 2016 election, they can't expect her detractors to not point out the reasons why she was an awful candidate. It doesn't mean people are defending Trump. I dislike them both for many reasons. I'm just tired of people treating Hillary's corruption and involvement with Russian oligarchs as inconsequential.

Ask SueEllenRules ..

Whataboutery is such a deflecting term.

Whether it’s about the tribal warfare or “Trump And Clinton' one thing is sure – it certainly isn’t about the issue at hand.

Case in point –

“Whatabout” Trump’s alleged contact with the Russians?

Oh yeah?

“Whatabout” Hillary Clinton’s sweetheart deal with them regarding US Uranium?

Oh yeah?

“Whatabout” George Papadapoulous?

Oh yeah?

“Whatabout” blah, blah, blah.

The big question is this –

“Whatabout” Russia? “Whatabout” the fact that Russia has been involved in American politics and economics, through contact with people on BOTH sides, and with Facebook and who knows what else?

Apparently, internally smearing one side or the other is far more important around here.
In a nutshell. Hillary supporters want everybody to believe Jill Stein and Donald Trump were compromised through deals with Russia, but you're not supposed to bring up Bill and Hillary's dealings with Russia. They claim to care about election interference, but brush off the DNC's meddling in the Democratic primaries and the influence of money in politics.

I'm glad you brought up Facebook too. They made a big deal out of Cambridge Analytica data mining Facebook, even though the Obama campaign did the same thing. When people point out their hypocrisy, they call it "whataboutism" or a "Russian talking point." Their only interest in election interference is how it affected Hillary.

Actually both Donald & Melania have accomplished something. They've shown to us evangelicals / conservatives have no problem with a philandering President sleeping with porn stars or his wife posing nude for lesbian themed photos, as long as he's their boy willing to push their agenda.

As you made this comment in reply to one of my post I assume you think I am one of the people who "want to relitigate the 2016 election". Nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, I wanted Hillary to beat Trump but that's because I consider Trump to support racism, Islamophobia and misogynism which are complete anathemas to me. That was the extent of my support because my politics are to the left of Hillary and the US Democratic Party as they are all far from supporting socialism which is what I firmly believe in.

You're not one of those people, but I was explaining how the people who do want to relitigate the 2016 election (including Hillary herself) are why she continues to be discussed.

Politically speaking, you and I are on the same page. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party snuffs out socialism in favor of corporatism and war mongering.

That's completely true, of course. Just like Dems are willing to put up with racial profiling and Constitutional violations in order to avenge Hillary's loss at the hands of a peace activist.

Both sides have taken a stand against principles. When it comes to pushing through the agendas of both parties, the ends justify the means in their eyes.

Well, not to be immodest, but I would dare say that no one's witnessed more of the fixation on Hillary on here than me.

This thread is the best case in point. It's supposed to be about Melania Trump and somehow we're talking yet again about Hillary Clinton instead.

The big question is this –

Yes, the right (Trump) and the left (Sanders and Stein). How peculiar that Hillary Clinton was the one who somehow got screwed in the process.

and with Facebook and who knows what else?
We may never know the whole truth if Trump and Stein get their way.

Apparently, internally smearing one side or the other is far more important around here.
Apparently so, based on the sheer number of "I hate that rotten b!tch Hillary Clinton" threads created just since the election.

When Hillary's brought up in these threads, it's usually after a comment suggesting that only Trump and his supporters lack principles.

And if that's how you feel, why did you bring up Hillary in my thread about Trump's budget?

Just because Russia's goal was the create chaos in the election doesn't mean all of those candidates were working with Russia. Sanders and Stein have both condemned election interference, and Stein's turned over the documents that are actually pertinent to the investigation. The fact that you literally believe every candidate who ran against Hillary was working with Russia is further proof that you hate democracy. It's clear from your posts that you think Hillary should have been president, and because of your blind allegiance to her, you believe everybody who ran against her is guilty of Russian collusion. You even support Constitutional violations and xenophobia towards Russians in your quest to make them pay.

DNC interference was fine, of course. Like Hillary, you believe she was entitled to the presidency as opposed to having to earn it.

SueEllenRules! said:

Except Stein willingly turned over documents detailing communications between her campaign and the Russian government and media. Investigators are engaging in government overreach by demanding communications between Stein and anybody of Russian descent. Stein's right to invoke the Constitution and to stand up against racial profiling.

Of course you don't mention that countless posts of "I hate those rotten bastards Trump, Sanders, Stein, and anybody who didn't vote for Hillary and wasn't willing to kiss her ass."

I told you she was involved in the Wounded Warrior Project,
How, exactly?

and was a philanthropist
For which charity(ies), specifically?

because you clearly dislike her
I haven’t heard anyone on here say they dislike her. Despite the fact that she did participate in that birther nonsense and defended Trump’s pu$$y-grabbing as ‘locker room talk.’

which answers my original question "What the hell is the point of this thread?"
I’ve asked the same question about virtually every Hillary Clinton thread created since the election.

She does draw a salary.. However, she does have both her own career
She does? :confuse:

and has a young child which is not something that has happened with previous first ladies
Jackie Kennedy had 2 young children, both far younger than Melania’s, but that didn’t impede her extensive restoration of the White House:
How Jackie Kennedy transformed the White House

The exception being Hillary who clearly had her own aspirations..
No one’s expecting Melania to rise to the level of a Hillary Clinton or an Eleanor Roosevelt.

He clearly does not hold the Clintons accountable for anything
They’ve been investigated up one side and down the other repeatedly by the FBI 8at the behest of Republicans who were clearly out to get them from day one. Not to mention Ken Starr and Congressional committees, who were also purely politically motivated. All to no avail (with the exception of Monica Lewinsky). So what exactly should I hold them accountable for?

nor does he hold them to a high standard.
Trump just sets the bar so impossibly high.

Hillary has been proven herself to be a racist homophobe.
That explains how she won 88% of the black vote to Trump’s 8%. And 78% of the gay vote to Trump’s 14%.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2016

Speaking of racism and homophobia, perhaps some people recall Trump’s remarks on ‘sh!thole countries’ and Pence’s promotion of gay conversion therapy.

But it is ok. She is the face of the party and pointing out these Proven facts are simply ridiculous assertions..
Proven facts? Like the majority of millennials eat Tide pods and snort condoms?

I think Melania does great. Getting up from bed, putting on make-up, stand by her orange husband's side with a forced smile, attending events, raising her kid etc.

If I was married to Donald Trump, this would be me:

Melania Trump announces children's initiative amid reports of marital disunity

Melania Trump appeared hand-in-hand with President Donald Trump on Monday as she announced the agenda she plans to pursue as first lady amid reports of marital discord between the first couple.

The initiative, called "Be Best," will focus on the "major issues facing children today," the first lady said during a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. Those issues include bullying on social media, the opioid epidemic and children's "emotional, social, and physical well-being."

"As a mother and as first lady, it concerns me that in today’s fast-paced and ever-connected world, children can be less prepared to express or manage their emotions," she told the crowd, with the president sitting in the front row.

"If we truly listen to what our kids have to say … adults can provide them the support and tools they need to grow up to be happy and productive adults who contribute positively to society and their global communities."

On Sunday, The Washington Post reported that the president and first lady keep vastly different schedules in the White House and sleep in separate bedrooms, while noting that even when the first couple has appeared together, awkwardness tends to ensue.

"They spend very little to no time together," a longtime friend of the president told the paper.

Earlier Monday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sidestepped questions from reporters about the first lady pursuing cyberbullying as an initiative given the president's penchant for lobbing attacks on Twitter.

"I think the idea that you’re trying to blame cyberbullying on the president is kind of ridiculous," she told reporters at a briefing. "When it comes to kids, this is something that has been problematic and something that we have seen over the last decade. And the first lady sees it to be an important issue and something she wants to address."

She also called the report of the first couple living separate lives "an outrageous and ridiculous claim."

U.S. President Donald Trump hugs first lady Melania Trump as he heads to the microphone to speak at the launch of her "Be Best" initiative in the Rose Garden at the White House in Washington, U.S., May 7, 2018.

The president joined the first lady on stage at the Rose Garden ceremony and gave her a kiss on the cheek before signing a proclamation declaring Monday "Be Best Day."

"Melania, your care and compassion for our nation's children, and I say this all the time, inspires us all," Trump said during brief remarks.

You think the fact that Jill Stein has appeared on RT and sat at the same table as Putin are proof that she's a Russian puppet. Yet you don't think the sale of uranium to Russian oligarchs that occurred while Hillary was Secretary of State is suspicious, even though investors in the deal donated $145 million to the Clinton Foundation. Bill gave a $500,000 speech to a Kremlin bank, but again, nothing suspicious there. Instead, you think a progressive activist conspired with Putin to make Trump president based on a photo of them in the same room.

When it comes to holding people to a set of standards, consistency is not your strong suit.

Maybe she won black people over by saying she carries hot sauce (yes, she really said that).

The fact that she used the racist term "super predators" in regards to black youth accused of crime does suggest she's racist. Of course, she "regretted" using that term later on. Just like I'm sure she regretted being against gay marriage until 2013, or supporting the Defense of Marriage Act in the 90s. Sorry, but Trump's not the only bigoted prick politician.

As Melania Trump Faces Plagiarism Claims, Her Staff Lashes Out at News Media

WASHINGTON — Melania Trump’s rollout this week of her “Be Best” initiative focusing on children was intended to give the first lady an agenda all her own. Instead, it revived accusations that Mrs. Trump’s ideas were really coming from somewhere else.

Observers on Twitter quickly pointed out that one of the primary materials with “Be Best” branding, a booklet on social media guidelines called “Talking With Kids About Being Online,” had been circulated by the Federal Trade Commission during the Obama era. As the story spread, Mrs. Trump’s communications director published an extraordinary statement on Tuesday that admonished the news media for reporting on the plagiarism claims.

“Our office will continue to focus on helping children, and I encourage members of the media to attempt to Be Best in their own professions,” the communications director, Stephanie Grisham, wrote, “and focus on some of the children and programs Mrs. Trump highlighted in her remarks yesterday.”

Before the official “Be Best” rollout on Monday, aides had been upfront to reporters when asked about the fact that Mrs. Trump’s office was repackaging items, including the Federal Trade Commission booklet, from other programs. Among program materials distributed to reporters covering the event was an initiative by the National Safety Council intended to encourage people to talk to their doctors about opioid abuse.

Mrs. Trump’s staff plans to continue to solicit ideas for the initiative, which focuses on opioid abuse, social media pressures and mental health issues among young people, from places the first lady has visited. Those include a West Virginia clinic that treats infants born with opioid addiction and a Michigan school where students participate in a program to stress the importance of emotional intelligence and kindness.

But critics did not buy the defense. Mrs. Trump enjoys higher popularity ratings than her husband, but she has been accused of plagiarism before. In 2016, a large part of a speech she delivered at the Republican convention appeared to be taken from remarks Michelle Obama, her immediate predecessor, delivered in 2008. On Monday, observers also noted that Mrs. Obama had delivered remarks in 2016 urging men to “be better.”

Like her husband, Mrs. Trump is also viewed by many as having baggage related to the Obamas, stemming back to jabs she took at President Barack Obama while her husband was promoting the conspiracy theory that Mr. Obama was not an American citizen: “It’s not only Donald who wants to see” Mr. Obama’s birth certificate, Mrs. Trump said during a 2011 interview. “It’s American people who voted for him and who didn’t vote for him.” Mr. Obama eventually released his long-form birth certificate.

The East Wing is known to lash out when faced with coverage the first lady views as unfair: In October, Mrs. Trump directed her office to release a scorching statement criticizing President Trump’s first wife, Ivana, for jokingly referring to herself as the first lady. But East Wing aides who had worked to execute a tightly scripted and controlled kickoff — and who are particularly sensitive when observers draw comparisons to the Obamas — had not anticipated the negative reaction to the booklet.

Different versions of it have circulated since at least 2009, and the booklet is meant to be distributed, as the Federal Trade Commission noted in its own news release on Monday: “We’re excited that the first lady is sharing this important information with families across the country,” an agency official, Nat Wood, wrote in a statement.

In the version the East Wing distributed on Monday, the only original part appeared to be a brief statement signed by Mrs. Trump.

“The lessons in this booklet can help kids act thoughtfully and kindly,” Mrs. Trump wrote in a statement at the front of the booklet, which was labeled on the back with the Federal Trade Commission’s logo and web address. “The internet — and technology in general — are powerful forces for good.”

The statement was accompanied by her official portrait.

Melania's half-assed and ironic "project" is just the latest in a long line of perverted ways the Trumps are trying (yet failing miserably) to diminish the Obamas. Even if that pee-pee tape never materializes, it'll always be a great metaphor for Trump presidency as a whole - a bunch of washed out Russian whores attempting to desecrate the Obamas' legacy.

I don't know. Gabriel said something about Russian whores. You know JR wouldn't turn them down while he and Bobby were in Moscow, amirite?
Neither would the Orange Menace. Or in this case, perhaps the Yellow Menace would be more apt. I'm pretty sure that even JR would have no interest in any of that action, though.

Probably not. The ol' Texas devil was pretty kinky, but I doubt golden showers were his thing.

Melania should start a group for women in loveless marriages. Not that she has any first hand experience with that sort of thing.
