I've watched a few over the Holidays- here are my recommendations

Train To Busan (Korean)- brilliant zombie movie, action-packed, thrilling, believable, a must-see!

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children- This is the best Tim Burton movie, I was shocked how good it is- just a perfect movie.

Don't Breathe- best "slasher" film in years. Finally, a horror movie that delivers

The Wailing (Korean) If you loved the Exorcist and have wondered why Hollywood can't seem to make another film as great as that one- look no more, this is it, the Koreans can- this is just devilishly great, I loved it, it is intense, enthralling and a great horror movie

Shin Godzilla (Japanese) Although predictable, it's a fun ride, and the special effects are great. I really enjoyed it.

Saving Mr Banks. I first saw it at the cinema a couple of years ago and saw it again on TV on Christmas Eve. I liked it even more the second time, such a great film and Emma Thompson's performance is outstanding.

Good movie. Out of curiosity, I watched the trailer of The Amazing Spider-Man, but it doesn't look good. Somehow, the epic-ness takes all the fun out of it.
Have you ever seen Green Lantern (2011)? It's one of my favourite action-hero movies (IMDb hates it).

Good movie.

The first two Sam Raimi Spider-Man films are among my favourite superhero flicks. Right up there with the first two Christopher Reeve Superman films.

Out of curiosity, I watched the trailer of The Amazing Spider-Man, but it doesn't look good.

I haven't got round to watching either of the ASM films yet. And now it almost doesn't seem worth it since there's now yet another screen version. All the same, I will watch them both at some point.

I was always a little disappointed that the Sam Raimi films never got round to introducing The Lizard, even though they featured Curt Connors, so I was glad to see him in Amazing. Electro looks crap though. I always get disappointed when a character is given a complete makeover for film and wonder why bother at all.

To me, Andrew Garfield makes a better Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire visually. I'm not sure about Sally Field as Aunt May though. Whenever I think about getting the ASM films on Blu-Ray, I think of Sally Field and lose the will to watch it. Rosemary Harris was perfect in that role.

It's on my viewing bucket list, but I haven't got round to watching it yet. While I bought a number of comics featuring Green Lantern, I didn't really follow the character when I was young, which may help me be less critical. Hal Jordan is the version I remember best though, so there will be some familiarity.

Actually, I haven't watched many superhero films of the last decade. The MCU has become ridiculous with all the crossovers and spin-offs. It's just too big a commitment. And the DCEU looks like it may go the same way.

I loved the first two parts. And I enjoyed the third and fourth films, cheesy as they were.

It's a good few years since I've watched them, though I have them all on DVD. They're not the kind of films I could watch with any regularity, but once in a while when I'm in the right mood they really hit the spot.

The Dark Knight movie wasn't my cup of tea.

I really enjoyed the first two Nolan films (haven't got round to watching the third yet). They looked great. Christian Bale puts me off, though. He seems very unpleasant in real life, and then there's that silly Patty & Selma voice he did as Batman.

Somehow I never got into the Superman movies

The first two are great. Really good. I think of the original Christopher Reeve Superman as the definitive superhero film. It's never been topped.

The second film is a great sequel (filmed alongside the first), and also has an alternative cut which is very different to the theatrical version. I enjoy both cuts in different ways.

The third film is really daft, but kind of fun.

And the same goes for Supergirl, which has Faye Dunaway at her campest - getting into a war with Supergirl over Cecil Colby's son. Then there's Peter Cook chewing the furniture along with her.

Watching Dunaway and her snarky sidekick Brenda Vaccaro trading lines always makes me feel like I'm watching a bizarre crossover featuring Alexis Carrington and Laura Avery.

The fourth Superman film is dire. Just awful. I only re-watch it because I keep convincing myself it can't be as bad as I remember.

Alice Through The Looking Glass

The crème de la crème of the CGI movies. Every scene is breathtaking and stunning.
I'm not sure how to rate the story. It's an adventurous fairy tale, a movie for children, how clever do you expect it to be? Actually, I really liked how they played with the TIME concept.
"Time is not a thief, because it gives before it takes". Isn't that thought-provoking enough?
