One of my favourite moments in Falcon Crest is the reveal that Richard Channing is Angela's son. It was part of the season 6 finale and was broken up into several separate segments to unfold with the other cliffhangers that ended that season (Emma about to jump off the roof, Chao-Li collapsing and falling down the stairs, Melissa driving the car into the bay and Chase and Richard diving in after her). I was curious to see how it would look if all the clips of the reveal were put together and the story could play out in one piece so I have re-edited the scene. I had to make a few minor changes in the visuals and music to help with the continuity.

The problem is that they never explained the story
I don't think Richard ever he said the phrase "I hate my mother."
However, Angela did pronounce it before Father Bob.

The magazine Tele-indiscreta published summaries of the episodes before it was aired
Before seeing the end of the sixth I thought about how the writers justified that they were mother and son..I did not like
In the seventh, I waited for him to explain to us why Douglas, a good man, kidnapped his firstborn. Disappointment
A good mother son scene. Disappointment for some unknown reason Angela-Jane did not hug or have a loving gesture with her son. Disappointment
In the eighth one Angela taps Richard's face. She seems more like a teacher with a student than a maternal gesture.
In the ninth when Maggie's funeral they hug a forced gesture
In the end Angela puts her face and Richard just crosses her face. They don't hug or touch each other.

This coincidence became the inspiration for my next Falcon Crest re-edit: Francesca dancing the tarantella to Hey Boy Hey Girl.

"This year for my character we have a wonderful challenge. She opens a Spa; you know, which is another business that she is running aside from the wine business. I'm going to be the busiest lady, on television." Jane laughs!

Gina's dance was great fun. Of course who else only Lorenzo to join her. I don't think Sophia Loren would have been doing the tarantella, if she had been Francesca.

This isn't true. Both Jane and Ronnie were devastated at the death of Christine Reagan who was still born or died a few hours after birth (full details are a bit sketchy). Many say the grief they both felt was a factor in their divorce about a year after the death. Reagan refused to talk about losing their child and Jane was left to cope with the loss alone. It was a difficult time for both of them.

The Blue Veil is an excellent film, a real tear-jerker. I saw the film some years after I had seen the scene that was used in Falcon Crest and it was cleverly used to explain the twist about Angela being Richard's son.

Gina's dance was great fun. Of course who else only Lorenzo to join her. I don't think Sophia Loren would have been doing the tarantella, if she had been Francesca.

I often wonder how the scene would have been had Sophia accepted the part of Francesca. I really like her as an actor but I not sure she could have pulled it off with the same level of panache that Gina managed to achieve.
