As much as I was a fan of Big Brother and watched every series, I not particularly enthused by the idea of this revival unless they can find an interesting new twist to the format. I think it's run it's course and it needs to be rested for a while longer before they attempt to bring it back.

Putting a group of people unknown to each other in a house for a period of time is never over for me. I can not get enough of watching people and though many other shows exist in a similar fashion to this, none have ever gripped me like BB.
As long as we get a diverse group of all ages then it will work for me.

The only Big Brother I remember watching all the way through was BB7, the classic year with the late Nikki, Pete and Glyn. That one had a whole range of housemates across different age groups, which made it really fun to watch, and there were lots of twists and turns all the way through.
It could work if they stick to the basic format and get the right balance of personalities. I used to love it when they had the live feeds and you could get some in depth conversations going, as well as having the odd fight break out.... Another celeb version would be fun as well.

Personally, I liked the early years of Big Brother the best when the house mates were generally left to get on with things and we just watched to see how relationships developed or broke down. When the demand to bigger audiences increased and more action was required for the daily shows, the producers were under pressure to make a more engrossing show so they interfered more and the show became more contrived. So instead of a weekly task there was a daily one and on top of that there were secret tasks. More of what the housemates did was I directed by the producers which worked at first but over time it felt more manipulative.
I think it would work better if it took a leaf out of the book of the USA version of the show and not screen it daily, instead they could just have a once or twice weekly highlight show. This approach would mean the producers could take a step back and just leave things to develop more naturally because they would have less pressure to find exciting material to fill a daily hour long show.

Yes, I agree. Though I was bored with series 3 and it wasn’t until series 5 that I was back and gripped.
I agree with everything else you say and while I enjoyed every series that came later, I was frustrated with the producers constantly trying to outdo previous years. The twists became ridiculous, but there was still nothing else like BB that kept my interest, so I settled for what we had.
part of the problem was many viewers constantly wanted twists and it was all about launch night and trying to be brutal for impact. Then it was about finding the most bizarre over the top character.

I hope Rylan doesn't present it, he seems like a nice guy but I find him a tad over rated.
Davina is perhaps is too mature now, so maybe it will be someone like Laura Whitmore, although I find her extremely annoying.
I used to like Emma Willis but she seems to have gone off the boil as a female version of Nick Grimshaw.

This is exciting news!! I was just saying on the thread about the Nikki Graeme documentary how much it made me miss Big Brother,so I'm over the moon it's coming back.
I think that is key and it's where they went wrong in later years. I don't want the whole house to be filled with Instagram bimbo 20 somethings with fake lips and too much botox. It's got to be a diverse group with a good representation of all generations and lifestyles to make it work.

Big Brother is the daddy of reality TV and to have it back would be wonderful, but I think it needs to do a few things in order for it to be successful again.
1. The show needs a complete overhaul presenter wise. No matter how I feel about Rylan, Emma, Brian & Davina it needs someone new and exciting to present it. Bringing back an old presenter simply says this is nothing new. Marcus needs to be replaced too - yes he's the voice of BB but he got more and more OTT over the years, it needs to be brought down a little.
2. ITV2 is a good place for it but it must be a diverse cast of all ages and types. By the time the show ended after 18 years the housemates got louder and louder to the point where virtually all of them were so frustrating to watch. You need as regular as possible people.
3. If the show is going to follow it's original format then the 24 hour feed is a must. Over the years there was so much that was covered up as the production crew had their favourites and it ruined the originality of the show.
4. If ITV2 were to follow the U.S version of the show then I'd be fine with that, but still with 24 hour feed, though I would prefer the original format.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if ITV 2 use the Big Brother Austrailia house. It would save them a fortune is creating a new one and as BB AU has finished filming at the present time it will be free to use.
We love the Australian series, 3 episodes a week, an eviction in every show with some fantastic twists and turns. They pre film the whole series and then have a live finale where the public votes the winner....evictions within the series are voted for by the housemates.
BB U.S has just started this week....not keen on any of the new cast though so far.

New series of Big Brother officially confirmed for 2023.
It will air on ITV2 and ITVX (new channel). No presenters announced yet but the show will run for 6 weeks. Housemates will be from all walks of life and varied.
