I've heard the opposite - while a lot of people didn't like the "died off screen in an aircrash" explanation, I've seen people comment positively on the fact that they haven't shied away from the fact Victor was a villain who did bad things, something that has been forgotten during the decades, maybe because Stefano's comic book villain have always overshadowed Victor's slightly more grounded villainy.

When I read that Dick Van Dyke was going to do a limited run om Days I wasn't super excited, but now that he's here I like him. It's amazing that at his age he's far better at acting than many of the Days veterans he shares scenes with and who are decades younger than him.

So Dick Van Dyke's character has lost his memory and is looking for his son, while John all of a sudden occurs to Brady about how he came to Salem with no memory (thanks to Victor). What does that mean? I've thought about how many different parents John has found over the years and (consistent with the storyline) can't remember. In any case there were too many and each time he/she was the ultimate father/mother. Let's see if Dick Van Dyke joins the long list.

Ron C must really be convinced by Robert Scott Wilson to even make him Victor's son in his second character on the show. I wish I was as excited about Robert Scott Wilson. He represents exactly what critics have criticized (sometimes unfairly) about daytime for decades: actors with good looks but a lack of talent.

He's the Latest Iteration of Robert Ford, a character he similarly obsessed over in the final years of One Life to Live. :

David A. Gregory, who played Ford, seemed to spawn an entire family of hunky brothers, and they even brought on John Wesley Shipp to play their hunky father. He really, really wanted to make that character work, mostly without the benefit of clothing.

And of course there was Ryan Paevey (as the late, great Nathan West) from Ron's tenure on GH:

Yikes!!! Let's just say if Robert Wilson ever does jump ship, they have the re-cast right there waiting.

I haven't watched Days in months and months. It's one of the longest periods I've ever gone without watching since the 80's. This move is idiotic. I heard a rumor about it a while ago and discarded it as nonsense. I adore Theresa, enough that I almost tuned in to watch her return, then I saw Jen Lilley's goodbye instagram post that sounded very final and decided not to bother. I have nothing against O'Brien. She's fun. I'm shocked Gwen has stuck around as long as she did. Is that character leaving then? Lily was fantastic as Theresa and as a huge Kimberly fan I thought it was wonderful to have both Donovan kids on the show, with Andrew around too. Bottom line, I don't like this move, but I guess it doesn't matter since I don't really watch anymore.

Fair enough for them to recast the part (though they should've been upfront about it), but why Emily O'Brien? This is like when they wrote off Ben only to recast Robert Scott Wilson (aka Carlivati's masturbation fantasy) as Alex Kiriakis right after. Was the situation on set so bad that they didn't want to risk re-casting with other actors in case they also bolted?

I found Lily's comments about O'Brien extremely gracious. O'Brien knew she was taking over the Theresa role and didn't say anything? That's sort of shady.

O'Brien briefly talked about it and apparently she was called into their office and told that she's playing Theresa now - no ifs or buts. I assume since she's on contract she can't refuse without breaking it. I think it just goes to show you how toxic that set is (or hopefully, was).

The whole thing just comes off as the sloppy sort of "who gives a sh--" attitude that comes from not having an HR presence on the series during that period when things went public about Alarr. Treating people badly also includes not caring enough to treat them well.

I actually kind of loved that. If you're going to do that kind of switch, that's a fun way to do it. I'm curious how well the actress does at an American accent.

It is similar to how they recast Jack Devereaux when Mark Valley was playing him. He disrobed and climbed into the shower, and when Jennifer impulsively decided to join him, she hopped in and they began kissing.....only Jack was now played by Steve Wilder.

After a few episodes with nuTheresa I realize that she doesn't really bother me, maybe it's because she shares most of her scenes with Alex. Still, it's surreal to see actors together who were Ben and Gwen on the show just a year ago.

I find Tate and Holly more annoying at the moment. It's never great when children who you never saw in childhood are suddenly sorased into teenagers who take over the show.

I wonder if there are still viewers who have fun when Blake Berris bumps into Gabi in his new character and asks her if they know each other. Or when Alex has a random scene with Clyde? Or when nuTheresa is doing her thing? And why did they kill Jake and revive Stefan if Stefan is now more Jake than the Stefan we knew before he died?

Although so much of it is confusing and unfortunately also bad, I still find Days interesting because it shows what can happen when you no longer have to pay attention to the barriers of network TV.

Gabi's exit story is better than I expected. I actually thought she was going to die, which could still happen, but the fact that Li was going to die surprised me. There wasn't much more to do with the character anymore, but still I didn't see it coming. Since he wasn't super important to the show, I don't thik he'll return from the dead at any point. Who murdered him? EJ is a possibility, but it was probably either Clyde or Orpheus, the usual killers.

I don't like it when a story is told too stupidly, like the one about Stephanie's ex-boyfriend, who she thought had ghosted her while he was run over and was in a coma. Obviously she wasn't his contact person in the event of an emergency, but not asking anyone close to your partner about him when he doesn't answer the phone doesn't exactly show a lot of trust in your relationship or genuine concern for your partner.

If I wasn't already watching Days, I would start watching because of AnnaLynne McCord, who has never really disappointed me in her roles, not even on Dallas TNT.

According to rumors, Marin's scene partners will mainly be Chad and Alex. Hopefully the two won't fight over the same woman again. Alex and Marin could be a hot couple, I'm not sure about her and Chad, maybe they have chemistry when I see them together, but from a visual perspective I have a hard time imagining that.

I had assumed that I would have Ron C as head writer until the last day of Days, but thanks to the writers strike I get to experience a different Days. I can't say yet whether it's better, at the moment it's just nice not having to endure Ron C's writing style.
