Hi Guys

We have - hopefully temporarily - lost all of our work from the site. There's lots of work going on behind the scenes to get this restored so please bear with us.

In the meantime feel free to write anything new and fresh for us!

Thanks for your patience

I'm not such a big of a writer, but i'll try to help shorten the time until Soapchat will hopefully back on again in it's full glory.
Soooo... let's see.

There was this very sunny late autumn afternoon. Miss Ellie went into the kitchen and wanted to start to prepare some chili for the next day, but when she switched on the oven, there suddenly was a zip ... and Southfork exploded with everyone in it! The end.

Well, i tried...!

Next one plz :D

Have you posted your stories here before?
If not why don't you post them here as well. :)

Only links to them and comments on other people's stories :)
I may upload the short story here, but I doubt I'll do anything but link the longer one. At present, the longer story is 439 chapters (and counting lol), it would take a very long time to copy and paste everything and it seems kind of pointless when it's already uploaded and nicely separated into chapters on FF.net. You don't need an account to read or review on FF.net, so if anyone is interested, please do just take a look by clicking the link :)
There are a couple of other ladies writing over there too; good, long stories that have never been posted here.

Please do upload the short story. We would love to read it. :)

439 chapters sure is a lot. Maybe an idea would be to upload a chapter at the time and wait for the feedback before you post another?

Can you imagine how frustrating it would have been if you had lost all of those chapters on here when it crashed? I think I'm too afraid to put mine on here now in case this happens again. Even though I mostly didn't care for a lot of the stories on here, there was one story on here that I wanted to read. I think it was called For Richer Or Poorer? Or something like that. And now it's gone. But hopefully, things will pick up here again. And as for FF.net, I'm glad that there are some more Dallas stories on there now, because it might help encourage others to write on there, too. I feel like we have almost nothing when it comes to Dallas. Especially compared to how full this place used to look. It's weird how it is the opposite now. Although that could certainly change.

Definitely. I would be so annoyed if I had no backup. It's already such a bummer to have lost so much history just in general conversation.
I'm a bit paranoid about having copies of things. I have my chapters saved on my laptop (as I write and edit on Word anyway), then backed up to my external hard drive too. If both of those failed, FF allows you to download the whole thing, as do multiple external websites :)
I'm so glad we're back online now, but this has all been a wake up call.

As for wanting to read old stories, I get it, I'm annoyed with myself for leaving a lot of things bookmarked in my "to read" folder, assuming they would always be there. I should have just read them when I bookmarked them.
The web cache is very helpful though. You can view that story here http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...index.php?threads/for-richer-or-poorer.69510/

@Karin Schill I posted my story for you :)

Hmmm...actually it's not how I remembered it or thought it would be back when I looked at it. It's actually the kind of story I don't like. And there is no way to see the other pages. At least not that I know of. Oh well.

I've been told on another thread that you just manually change the page title in the url to get to the next page.

Do you know the name of the story if it wasn't that one? If you do or you remember some details, just Google it and add the words soap chat to the end and it should link the correct one :)

I know that it was the right story because I remember Sue Ellen and JR's conversation about her going to work and him telling her that she can only look pretty. Back then, based on only sort of looking at that conversation, I thought that Sue Ellen was going to work at Ewing Oil or some other business thing and totally prove JR wrong. That's why I was disappointed when she became a model in this because she was pretty much confirming JR's beliefs. But even more than that, I don't like stories with a Sue Ellen vs. Mandy theme. It's always obvious that Sue Ellen will win. And in my opinion, Mandy is even more annoying in fanfiction than on the show! But thanks for the information about the pages!

Wow what a shame. So someone trying to steal our great fan fictions. :)

I'll have to see what I have to add back on or create something new. Maybe Dallas 2020.

All my best.

Any idea about my icon picture with John Ross and Miss Ellie - how do get it back? I know I didn't keep it.

Don't write about her and expect me to read it. Vomit.:byebye:
