This can be anything from characters you mildly dislike to characters you loathe, despise or hate, depending on how seriously you take your soaps. However, we're not talking about those wonderful villains you loved to hate. It could be a character that annoyed you or outstayed their welcome, or should never have been there in the first place. Maybe one that got in the way of a couple you were shipping, or maybe you couldn't stand the actor or thought they were terribly miscast. Whatever your reason, feel free to let it all out right here.

Let the battle commence to see who earns the unfortunate title of soaps most disliked character.

This will be our first un-victory!
Or should the soap with the least votes win?

OK, let's see...

1. Appolonia (Falcon Crest)
upload_2017-11-27_2-57-12.png
Time-waster/story-trasher. And the music sucked!

2. Grant Harper (Paper Dolls)
upload_2017-11-27_2-58-11.png
Unconvincing patriarch of a family that wasn't so interesting to begin with.

3. Carly Fixx (Falcon Crest)
upload_2017-11-27_3-0-19.png
I'm afraid she was beyond fixxing.
Shoo!

4. Jackie Deveraux (Dynasty)
upload_2017-11-27_3-3-20.png
Let's give Dominique something to do, but nothing too interesting or exciting.
This was not a character, this was an excuse.

5. Maya Kumara (The Colbys)
upload_2017-11-27_3-9-16.png
It's true...it's true:(. Even the magnificent THE COLBYS had an imperfection.
This totally underwhelming Special Guest Appearance. I think she's still standing in that living room, ignored by everyone.

1. Robin Agretti (FC)

2 I felt so lucky to be your cousin_zpstrhcrnmk.png

The Tuscany Valley's answer to the question nobody asked. Always showing up at the most inopportune moments, always sticking her nose in where it's not wanted and generally moping around in pathetic victimy 'poor me' mode. Couldn't stand the actress, the character, everything about her. Even looking at her pic now is getting me agitated. God, I hate her.

2. Jamie Ewing

jh81.jpg

So bad they killed her twice. I think the concept and character of Jamie Ewing was just fine. If only she had been played by someone else. She really grated on me. And that voice. Instead of saying 'ing' she would say 'een', making her Jamie Eween and super annoyeen.

3. Diana Fairgate (KL)

575017dc4be64b616bcc359bbe52d061--knots-landing-diana.jpg

I think this one is self-explanatory.

4. Charles Scott (KL)

MVA84505.jpeg

I see what they were trying to do with the character and story line but it just didn't work. It's bad enough being a lame character but when you make one of our most beloved characters look bad that's unforgivable. It just wasn't believable that this was the one man that Abby, of all people, couldn't resist.

5. Lady Ashley Mitchell (Dynasty)

Ashley.jpg

I like Ali MacGraw and I don't even think she's that bad an actress. So why was she so bad on Dynasty? She seemed to be trying very hard to fit in somewhere she didn't fit in at all, but totally went the wrong way about it. Here's just one example of her cringe worthy performance. (watch the eyebrows)

My Top 5 Characters I can´t stand:

1: April Stevens (Dallas)
Proof: Just look how slutty she gets when she sees Bobby at the Ball, with Pam by his side. And notice Pam's hilarious reaction...

2: Jenna Beaulieu Presley (Dallas)
Proof: Yes, I know the scenes in this video are not from "Dallas" but at least here she was trying to be funny. She was too painful to watch on the show...

3: Ellie Reed (Dallas)
Proof: The most regrettable scene she filmed in the series. Her look was screaming out loud: "Who the hell was the man in the picture...?"

To Be Continued

4: Diana Fairgate (Knots)
Proof: This scene is perfect to see why she is on this list. Particularly the moment at 2'4o''!!!

5: Blake Carrington (Dienasty/Dysentry/Duck Dynasty/NottheCWone)
Proof: He was the reason I couldn´t get to love this show, because his blatant homophobia resurfaced every now and then. And he injected it into the stiff ass of the second incarnation of his son Steven.

(Dis)honorable mentions:
Claude Weldon (Flamingo Road)
Lady Ass-less Mitchell (Dysentry)
Ciji / Cathy (KL)
The whole cast of newcomers (Falcon Crest Season 9)

1. Diana Fairgate, Knots Landing--at least the one we saw in seasons 1-5. When Chip took her and disappeared, was it wrong for us to thank Chip?

In her defense, She seemed much more agreeable in her guest gig in season 14.

2. Charles Scott, KL--Michael York famously criticized the show in his memoirs. Maybe he should have played the cracked slab of concrete in the season eight cliffhanger--it had more dimension than his Charles Scott characterization.

3. Frankie Colby, The Colbys---the idea that Jason would prefer that mess over Sable?? It's like choosing hamburger over steak.

4. Charlie Whats-his-name, Falcon Crest--in the dreadful season nine, he was the dreadfulest. (??) Emma may have gotten to shoot him, but we were all pulling that trigger with her.

5. Judy Trent, KL--Jane Elliot is a powerhouse actress, but her needy, whiny, neurotic character was about as sexy and attractive as a bucket of wallpaper paste--but Gary slept with her anyway. [Pictured: Gary's affair #1 with Gary's affair #2]

I've gone for characters that pretty much grated on me in some way from beginning to end. Most of my choices are influenced by the way they're portrayed rather than how the character behaves, so I've avoided Cellini-esque instances where a replacement actor renders a previously good character unwatchable (apart from my #1 choice, which I view as a completely different entity. Plus it's the first time I've got to include TNT Dallas).

1. Christopher Ewing

TNT Dallas
Jesse+Metcalfe+Dallas+Season+1+Episode+7+0AkqeTwkAUAl.jpg

Petulant. Smug. Bratty. Arrogant. Tedious.

2. Mack Mackenzie
Knots Landing
a428208b8c42d71ce0893327732a3467.jpg

The condescending smile. The omniscience. The “aren’t I adorable” manchild bit. The alpha male posturing. The air of vanity. The need to sort out everyone’s business. The neighbour from hell.

3. Aunt Lil Trotter
Dallas
33-kate-reid.jpg

If only there was a man who would take Michael in hand [sighs resignedly, juts lower lip and stares at Ray.]
The whole victimy/passive controlly/guilt thing she threw out to manipulate people into cleaning up her own crap got right up my nose.

4. Johnny Rourke
Knots Landing
184cc8f45041d5b0c79167693bf1f779--knots-landing-soap-stars.jpg

The appalling Irish accent (and the accompanying music). The excruciating singing. If only I could forget them in the same way I’ve forgotten what his actual storylines were.

5. Francesca Colby Hamilton Langdon
The Colbys
MV5BMWJjMTg2YWMtYTUwMS00MDBkLWEwYzgtNzc0NWM4NmZkMGRlXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMzE0MzIwMg@@._V1_.jpg

Soaplands most wishy washy harlot and another mistress of passive manipulation.

Less than special mentions for:

Michael Culhane - Dynasty
Matt Cantrell - Dallas

Here's just one example of her cringe worthy performance. (watch the eyebrows)

I especially enjoyed the way she walked off like a footballer at the end of the scene.

Mmm mm m mm! Mm m mm! Mmmmm mm mmm m! mm!

I think that's why I didn't include Linda Fairgate. She had a character "development" (ahem!) that would normally take years to happen - but I never disliked watching any of the (many) "Linda's". Each version had potential, and she was at her best just before she became a fabulous murder victim (she also scores points because of that).

I must admit Linda fell off my short list simply because of the "versions" thing. I kind of liked the earliest version since she brought out the worst in Karen (by being an early version of Karen), which slightly negates the hatred I had for her in the "cheating on Eric with Michael" era and the outright loathing of her in the "sleeping her way to the top at Sumner Group" era. Jill Bennett also went through several "versions" but Teri Austin managed to keep me from hating any of them.

I must admit I forgot all about the pointless Johnny Rourke, probably because of the pointlessness of his presence. Similarly, I thought of the vacuous Vanessa Hunt a bit too late, as well. Still, I'll stand by my original list.

Really, what was it about these two, they were around for so long and were such awful sleazeballs.

1. Frankie Colby -The Colbys.
The Whore of Babylon. She was just the worst! A slut that just wouldn't quit! She made my blood boil, staying at the Colby mansion like a shameless harlot. Her passive aggressive victim shit made me violent. I hated everything about her. Especially those moments where she grew a spine and tried to out bitch Sable. But usually she was slapped back into place.
2. Linda Fairgate - Knots Landing.
A disgustingly annoying woman in all versions. I was never so glad to see a character killed off. Hated her.
3. Diana Fairgate - Knots Landing.
I kept praying for Karen to kill her. Annoying isn't even the word.
4. Kirby Anders - Dynasty.
An ill-conceived mess of a character. Her annoying rambling verse way of speaking, her doe eye rolls and faux insecurity and innocence. She was clearly a demented sociopathic slut. Something so contradictory about her, she's presented as an innocent ingénue and yet she's actually a home wrecking whore who's determined to dig her nails into anything Carrington. Alexis should have killed her.
5. Jenna Wade - Dallas.
I didn't mind her too much at first but then she just outstayed her welcome like a rude house guest. That season when Bobby was dead and she was still at Southfork just made me hate her more and more. And sweet baby Jesus she was an annoying ugly crier. And didn't she love to cry!
