Episodes 331-336 (...continued) With Tom pretty much working everything out, Frank finally tells him the truth. So when Alf comes looking for Roo and asks Tom what the problem is, Tom has little choice but to fill him in also. In a nice touch, Ailsa checks with Alf that he plans to go easy on Roo because it’s not her fault. And he does: In stark contrast with Bensley’s “look Mum, I'm acting” business in the background of her earlier confession, Meagher’s subtle performance here is very much appreciated. He allows Justine Clarke to do her thing and is simply there. The end result is a winning scene for both. Meanwhile, Donald finds Frank sulking at the beach, only for Frank to walk off when Donald tries to persuade him to talk to Bobby: And so the magic pairing of Donald and Pippa springs into action again as they respectively persuade Frank and Bobby to clear the air. He looks for any means of escaping the truth. Even when the opportunity to talk is handed to him on a platter, Frank still continues to clam up and it’s very easy to get on board with Bobby’s frustration: By the time it comes, Frank’s truthfulness is all the more potent because of how hard he’s worked to keep it hidden.
