Amazon Prime A League of Their Own (series)

Anyone watch this show yet? I've seen it advertise and I want to watch it, but I just haven't made it there yet.

I'm quite fond of the movie, but this does not look good.

I really don't get the point of these revisionist fantasy takes on the past. An all white cast might not fly in 2022, but the AAGPBL was all white. I'm sure it sucks for minorities to see works of entertainment set in the past where they were excluded, but they were. What's gained by making the past more palatable than it was, other than creating a false perception that it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be? And even in a fantasy alternate reality, we're to believe that a black woman broke into professional baseball before Jackie Robinson? This seems pretty dismissive of his actual accomplishments.

Didn't that Hollywood miniseries show Rock Hudson showing up at the Oscars in the '50s holding hands with his black boyfriend -- when that's unlikely to happen even today?

If the past was this accepting and diverse, then what are the woke complaints today for?

I love the movie, but I don't think I can watch this. They shouldn't have called it A League of Their Own because it doesn't sound like it's based on the movie, other than women playing baseball. They don't even have the characters from the movie. The executive producers call it a re-imagination. I don't need a re-imagination.

It also passively lessens the accomplishments of others not even mentioned in a show, like say Rosa Parks. If everything was so hunky-dory back then in this alternative universe, why did people like her have so many heartless, devastating troubles?

Adored the film, and do not plan to watch this remake. Looks corny to me.
