Angela joined the forums back in 1999, given him the key to the door forums.

Not many members know this, but Angela was very creative with banners for a few of our forums, back when each forum had its own banner.

With many contributions around the forums, Angela created our own TV version of the WORLD CUP, ultimately bringing fans from all the big four soaps together in a battle to find the winner in various categories.

Angela also took part in our first SOAP CHAT BIG BROTHER. He played the role of Charles W. Kingsfield giving the viewers one hell of a laugh, showcasing his creativity and proving to be a big hit with his housemates. He finished in 3rd place.

But what else do we know about Angela, and what don’t we know?

Please take this week to ask as many, or little questions you have for Angela including any follow-up questions that might arise during the week.

Enjoy your week in the spotlight.

I will start with one question that intrigues me with everyone.

Angela, if you were to take part in Mastermind (a quiz show) what would be your specialist subject?

I've been looking forward to this one - Hi @Angela Channing hope you have a fantastic week in the spotlight.

OK, so some questions.

I'll start off with my regular one first -
1. If you had a TARDIS (time machine), which point in history would you return to, to find out what really happened?
2. Do you have any pets, if so which ones?
3. If life really was like a box of chocolates, which flavour would you eat first?
4. What is your favourite destination for a holiday/vacation and why?

Thank you @Ome for that introduction. I got my weeks mixed up and thought my turn in the spotlight wasn't until next week but it's all good and I'm looking forward to my time in the limelight.

Anyone can ask me anything, no areas are off limits and I will try to give full and honest answers to all your questions.

Bring it on!

1. Angela, if you were to take part in Mastermind (a quiz show) what would be your specialist subject? @Ome

I remember some years ago, in a episode of Celebrity Mastermind a snooker player chose the TV series Dallas as his specialist subject and at home I got all the questions right so I would be very tempted to have the same subject. If I had to choose something different, I would go for the life and career of Billie Jean King. I'm a fan of watching tennis (I'm terrible at playing it) and she was always my favourite player. Not only was she one of the greatest tennis players ever, she was also one of the greatest sportspeople of all time. However, she is so much more than a sportsperson and has been a life long activist for the rights of women, people of all races and LGBT+ people. I read both her autobiographies and she has lived a fascinating life so she would be my specialist subject.

Hi @pete lashmar, how are you doing? Thanks for your questions which I'll do my best to answer.

2 . If you had a TARDIS (time machine), which point in history would you return to, to find out what really happened? @pete lashmar
If my purpose in going back in time was purely to solve a mystery, as a scientist I would chose to discover the truth of something that has puzzled scientists for decades. I would go back to prehistoric times to discover why dinosaurs died out. I've heard so many different theories including an asteroid hitting the earth which lead to their demise. Covid-19 has got me wondering whether they could have killed by a deadly virus which was more lethal to them than other animals.

3. Do you have any pets, if so which ones? @pete lashmar
No, I don't have any pets. I'm now living on my own and my pre-Covid life was such that I wasn't at home much so I felt the responsibility of looking after a pet wasn't compatible with my lifestyle. If I could have a pet, I would chose a mixed breed, medium-sized rescue dog

4. If life really was like a box of chocolates, which flavour would you eat first? @pete lashmar
I'm not really a big fan of chocolate if I'm really honest, I more of a savoury person (crisps, peanuts, pretzels, etc.) but if I was offered a chocolate from a box I would go for a nut and caramel centre. If I'm offered to chose from a box of Quality Street, I would go for the purple wrapped one.

If the box of chocolates was a metaphor for life, I would chose the chocolate that represented time spent with family and friends.

5. What is your favourite destination for a holiday/vacation and why? @pete lashmar
Jamaica. It's where my parents are from. It has some of the best beaches in the world and the sea is beautifully warm. I've been there twice and the people there are some of the friendliest I have encountered anywhere in the world. The food is amazing and the island has so much history. For a relatively small island there is so much to do there and so much to see.

Hi @Karin Schill, thanks for your questions.

6. What are your interests? @Karin Schill
I guess my main interest is running. I've completed 8 marathons and numerous half marathons and 10K races. I started about 30 years ago, just to get fit, but over the years it developed into running races and did my first marathon in 2000. I don't run as much as I used to because I need to pace myself better as I get older to avoid injuries. I'm very keen on photography and occasionally post some of my work in How long will it take us to get to 10,000 posts? thread . During lockdown I challenged myself to walk somewhere everyday to find something interesting to photograph. I'm also keen on baking and I've been getting interested in vegan food so I often adapting existing recipes to plant based versions (with varying success).

7. Since you were also in the audience that day. What are your memories from the Wogan Then and Now filming? @Karin Schill
I remember there was a lot of waiting around: outside waiting to get in and inside waiting to be seated. During the waiting I got to chat with several people and I was so impressed that some had travelled from different parts of Europe to be there compared with my relatively short Tube journey across West London to Shepherd's Bush. I found the interviews to be a little disappointing, to be honest because it was just covered the usual stories that Larry, Linda and Patrick always tell. Linda told the one about how she grew her role from just saying "More coffee darling" to being one of the main characters by using her eyes, Larry told the one about how he and his wife were reading scripts in different rooms when one of them was attracted to Dallas because everyone was bad and there wasn't a nice character in it. He even told the unfunny story about singing "Do you balls hang low". Just about every TV interview they do they tell the same stories and I wished they had offered more that was new in the interview.

At the start of the interview Larry threw some JR dollars at the crowd but it all ended up on the stage. At the end someone asked Patrick if he could get some of them and he kindly picked some up and handed them to the crowd. He gave me a handful and I passed some on to other members of the audience but kept 3 for myself. Afterwards I went to the pub in Shepherd's Bush where forum members agreed to meet at after the show but no one else turned up!

8. When did you first began to watch Falcon Crest? @Karin Schill
I was a Jane Wyman fan before Falcon Crest, in fact since I saw her in the film Johnny Belinda when I was about 10. When I saw a preview of Falcon Crest and they said she was in it, I immediately became curious about the show. I was quickly taken with how the character Angela Channing was unlike any character I had seen Jane Wyman play in films and I was immediately hooked. I watched Falcon Crest from the first episode until Thames TV (the TV station that broadcasted it in London) stopped showing it at the end of season 7. It was never repeated on terrestrial TV in the UK and I didn't get to see the final 2 seasons until about 5 years ago when I acquired copies of those episodes.

We were there many moons ago, it's exactly as you describe, the people, the beaches and the food. One thing I truly miss is how laid back life is there. I remember making a promise that I would continue that way of life when I returned home, sadly, within a few days I was back to the hustle and bustle of daily life in a city.

We went on some wonderful excursions and while the hotel tried to keep us inside their walls, we ventured out on our own, found some quickly little shacks with incredible food

This was the room from our window.

Which song would you pick for karaoke night?

When did you last laugh out loud and what was the reason for it?

What would be your dream job?

That's awesome. My family are originally from Kingston so I spent most of my time in that area.

So many people think of Jamaica as just being a beach holiday but there is so much history there as well. One of my favourite places to visit was Morant Bay where a group of Jamaican, lead by Paul Bogle, rebelled and protested against the injustice and widespread poverty they had to live in following the abolition of slavery. It inspired me to find out everything I could about Paul Bogle, his history and the history of Jamaica.

I also have some American Indian ancestry so it was interesting to visit a reconstructed Awawak Indian settlement while I was in the country.

9. Did you do Dunn's River Falls? @Ome
I did go to Dunn's River Falls and walked up the waterfall. You can hire plastic sandals to use for walking up it but I stupidly decided to do it barefoot. The rocks are quite smooth at first but they soon got quite sharp and uncomfortable to walk on and overall it was quite a terrifying experience at times. The relief I felt when I got to the top was immense. The beaches close by in Ochio Rios were what I was thinking of when I described Jamaica as having some of the best beaches in the world.

Hey @Barbara Fan, thanks for your questions.

10. Who are your fav Arsenal players thro the years?
@Barbara Fan
Every era produces one of my favourite players. When the manager was Bertie Mee and my favourite player was Charlie George. I went to a charity function at Arsenal once and I met him. I called him Mr George and he said "no mate, call me Charlie" and shook me warmly by the hand.

In the Terry Neil era my favourite player was probably Kenny Sansom because again I met him. It was at another Arsenal function and I was washing my hands in the gentlemen's facilities and Kenny Sansom walked up to the adjacent sink to wash his hands too. I wanted to say something but I thought he wouldn't appreciate being bothered in the men's toilets. However, stuck up a conversation with me and we spent a few minutes chatting about what a special club Arsenal was. He is a genuinely lovely, warm and friendly guy as well as one of Arsenal's greatest defenders.

Under Don Howe my favourite player was David O'Leary. Not as beloved by fans as the legendary Arsenal back four under George Graham but one of Arsenal's most consistent and long serving defenders.

In the George Graham era my favourite player has to be Ian Wright. Although at times I felt he could be a selfish player, I think that's what makes many goal scorers great. Such a committed and talented player to watch.

In the Bruce Rioch era my favourite player was Denis Bergkamp (I put him in this era so I can chose some else for the Wenger years). Probably the most gifted player I ever saw in an Arsenal shirt. His movement both on and off the ball was second to none and in contrast to Ian Wright was totally selfless and would pass on a goal scoring opportunity if he felt passing the ball to someone else gave them a better chance of scoring.

For the Wenger era my favourite player was Thierry Henry. I don't really need to explain why, he was just the most incredible and brilliant player. Patrick Viera comes a close second.

Of the current team, I really like Hector Bellerin. He's sometimes inconsistent but when he's on form there are few defenders as good as him.

If I had to chose just one player, it would probably be Thierry Henry.

11. Who would be in your dream team 11? @Barbara Fan
Not necessarily my favourite player but would be a brilliant team if they played together when in their prime:

Pat Jennings (goal) Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Lee Dixon, Nigel Winterburn (defence), Patrick Viera, Liam Brady, Robert Pires, Cesc Fabregas (midfield), Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry (strikers)

12. Whats the best Arsenal game you have ever watched?
@Barbara Fan
Arsenal beating Liverpool 0-2 at Anfield in May 1989 to win the league on most goals scored. Not necessarily the highest quality football match but the tension, the excitement and the drama of Micheal Thomas's late goal to win for Arsenal was like nothing I've experienced watching a match (I watched on TV, not at Anfield). Probably the only time I cried with joy at the end of a match.

13. Do you miss Arsene Wenger? (I do, such a lovely man) and do you think they will go onto great things with Arteta? @Barbara Fan
There are few public figures that I love (yes, genuinely love) more than Arsene Wenger. If it was up to me he would still be manager and although I admire Arteta, even with more money available to spend on players than Mr Wenger ever had, he's not been able to finish higher in the league than Mr Wenger did in his worst season. I miss Mr Wenger enormously but once the decision was made to sack him, I'm 100% behind Arteta and I think he will take the club forward. I find it hard to see how we can finish above teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City but he is developing a good team and we have a chance.
Who are your fav English players past and present (Not Arsenal players) @Barbara Fan
Whats the best English game you have watched? @Barbara Fan

14. You are also a marathon runner, whats the best time you have completed one in? @Barbara Fan
My first marathon was in 2020 and I finished agonisingly outside my target of being under 4 hours and finished in 4 hours and 1 minute. Every subsequent marathon I've run I'm tried to achieve a sub 4 hour finish but never could. Now I'm older I know I never will but I had great times trying.

15. Do you go to a gym and work out? @Barbara Fan
Yes, I 'm a regular at the gym, I go several times every week. I was there this morning. Because I don't run as much as I used to I compensate with regular gym visits. I mostly do cardiovascular work and rarely use weights while there.

16. Do you run for any particular charity? @Barbara Fan
Every marathon I ran I used to alternate between raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK. I support the BHF because my dad died of heart disease when he was in his mid 40s and I lost my sister to cancer when she was a similar age. I now mostly support Cardiomyopathy UK as I prefer how they spend money with more going to the cause rather on overheads.

17. Do you have any favourite Atheltics sports - ie 100m,. 400, 800, 1500, 10000 m or javelin, long jump etc? @Barbara Fan
To watch, the 100m and it was my best event at school. However, in the 1980s I loved watched the rivalry between Steve Ovett (my favourite) and Sebastian Coe over 800 and 1500 metres.

18. Do you have any fav athletes or one who inspired you to run? @Barbara Fan
When I first started running seriously my favourite marathon runner was Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia. He ran in the second London Marathon I did so I like to say competed in the same race as him. He finish at about the time I was reaching the midway point.

Hi @Emelee, how are you? Thanks for your questions.

19. If you would take me out to a restaurant for lunch tomorrow, where would we go and what would you order? @Emelee
Didn't my alter ego Duane Bendix try to woo you in Soapchat The Batchelor, or was that someone else? If I were taking you out I would ask what you liked eating and find a nice restaurant that produced the food you chose. If it were left entirely up to me, the best restaurant I've eaten in was 1 Lombard Street, in the City of London.

They do British food cooked to a high level. It's a lovely setting and the staff are very attentive without being overbearing. My favourite food for eating out though is Indian.

20. Which song would you pick for karaoke night? @Emelee
I love karaoke. My favourite song to sing is The Long and Winding Road by The Beatles. I also like doing REM's Losing My Religion and When Doves Cry by Prince.

21. When did you last laugh out loud and what was the reason for it? @Emelee
I laugh most days. The last time was this morning during a phone conversation with a friend who was telling me about an incident with his cat over the weekend.

22. What would be your dream job? @Emelee
I'd like to be a film director. I do some video editing in my spare time using stock footage but it would be so interesting to take that a stage further and direct the clips myself and create a cinematic masterpiece.

Hi @Long Lashes , thank you for your questions. What's not to like about this week, talking about one of my favourite subjects, me!

23. You're photos are stunning, and its been a pleasure to see some of them. I would love to be good at photography. Have you had formal training in photography? and do you have all the specialist photography equipment? @Long Lashes
You're very kind, thank you. I have done a short course on photography but I'm mostly self taught. What I often say to people who want to take better pictures is to take a photograph of the same thing from different angles (at eye level, down on the ground looking straight across, on the ground looking up, etc.) and then compare the photos to discover what you like and don't like about each image. After doing this for a while you get in the habit of not just taking a standard photo at eye level, like most people do, but to consider how a different angle can lead to taking a better picture.

I bought an expensive Canon SLR camera about 10 years ago and I have a tripod but that's the extent of my specialist equipment. But since I bought that camera, phone cameras have improved enormously and now they also have adjustable ISO, aperture and shutter speed and I often prefer to just take photos with my phone as it saves me having to lug around a bulky camera and often the results are almost as good.

24. Angela Channing! Why do you always have to be so cruel to Chase and his lovely family? It's really shocking to watch! @Willie Oleson
Angela nurtured Falcon Crest until it became the success it is. Brother Jason was more interested in drinking than in Falcon Crest so it was disappointing to lose part of Falcon Crest to his humourless, sanctimonious son who knew nothing about the wine business. Chase deserved everything that was dished out to him but to his credit, he never gave in.
