The Grant family rebuilt under Barry Grant's son (Stephen) eventually, with Fran (Julie Peasgood) being the mother of his son.

Jackie Corkhill returning in 2008 having got into a relationship/marriage with Bobby Grant or Ron Dixon, where Sheila would have left in 1988 and Bobby returning after 1990, Jackie Corkhill would have divorced from Jimmy throughout the 1990s-2000s as she did eventually with Jimmy leaving around 2001-2003. Rod Corkhill would have remained in the show and made stints in and out, along with any of the early 1980s Corkhill family who were still around in the early 1990s.

As for Terry Sullivan, he would've left in 1996, and not returned until 1999-2002 and Barry Grant would have left for good in 1998.

Meanwhile, producer Phil Redmond would have stepped in 5 years earlier in 1997 to put Brookside right to save the soap from being cancelled, thus taking the focus and scenes back to the show's roots AWAY from the shopping precinct and petrol station AND BACK to the cul-de-sac houses as the show originally was in the 1980s and maybe introducing new characters and writing out old characters etc sacking all the useless production team who were sensationalising and scaremongering and upsetting the viewers with bad storylines.

Finally, with Brookside back to its roots, with new opening titles and either the 1982 or 2002 theme, it would still be going today and Channel 4 would have cancelled the words/numbers gameshow Countdown instead with Brookside now being its longest serving programme.
