There was disgusting vitriol directed at Obama, too, for 8 years. Hillary has certainly received her share of it, but it's not because she's a woman -- it's because she was the frontrunner candidate for the Democrats. None of that, however, excuses her excuses in this book. Yes, her "deplorables" comment during the campaign was absolutely true, and she didn't lose any votes over it because the people who were incensed about it were never going to vote for her anyway -- Jane Pauley's just convinced that the election was lost over it because the mainstream media thinks you're never supposed to say anything truthful about any of "the people" ever... And while I'm not someone who feels Hillary should dump all the blame on herself necessarily, her version of "what happened" in this book is essentially a lie. A big, flaming, stinking lie. And she's further hurting her legacy, whatever there is of it, by continuing to be so opaque, blaming Sanders and others who had little or nothing to do with her loss. And let us not forget: she won the popular vote by a significant 3 million ballots. So if she wants to lie a wee bit more cleverly, she should be claiming her well-publicized near-collapse in public a couple of weeks before the election had been the result of a bug which had prevented her from visiting those all-important swing states which threw the electoral college to that orange gas bag. (Or does she?)
