[QUOTE="soapfan, post: 416292, member: 354"] I am writing regarding Coronation Street sets. To the best of my knowledge from when I first began watching Coronation Street, there was the old "Jim's Cafe" that was run by numerous people from the early 1980s until 1999 when Roy Cropper moved over to the new cafe he had built. Then there's been The Kabin that Rita mostly ran, which is outdated now and always associated with Rita despite how Mavis used to work alongside her, it was always Rita's own individual shop business really. The "Underworld/Baldwin's Casuals" cotton mill factory is outdated in today's world and should never have remained after Mike Baldwin had left - Businesses like that may have been fashionable and popular in the 1970s, but NOT in today's world. Whilst the remaining "Underworld/Baldwin's Casuals" undergone modernisation and downsizing and renaming in later years, my biggest criticism is the "Roy's Rolls" cafe, I think the cafe in general needs a new lease of life, a new owner and redecorated and rename branding and for the character of Roy Cropper to be axed from Coronation Street altogether as he's been around for over a decade too long since Hayley died and the character become redundant with nothing else to do therefore. Roy Cropper/David Neilson has been in the show for 30 years now since 1995, so he's been around long enough really to get moved on. The character has become stale too. The Bistro thing is ok which was once Turner's Joinery and before that Jim McDonald's old shop he ran in the early 1990s. The MVB Motors garage is ok, it's been present ever since Brian Tilsley, then Kevin, and if Kevin left, even Tyrone Dobbs would be a good successor too and learnt the whole trade as such. Finally otherwise, I think all the other new businesses crammed into the new set in Salford are just pointless i.e. Speed Daal etc and those all want axing altogether. What does everyone else think?
