The board of CalcoHarwood meets. Rebecca is the last to enter the room and sit at the far end next to Chris's Korean friend. She slides her phone over to him. He looks at it. Chris takes count of those in favor of the merger. Rebecca raises her hand splitting the vote seven and seven. Then Chris's Korean friend raise his hand in favor. Chris looks surprised but counts it. Rebecca says, "That's done. Make the announcement we accepted the offer." She stands, "Oh by the way, Trident's class B shares, while we're here the company announced they're owned by JR Ewing. He's placing them in trust for me and my brothers. When this merger is complete each trust will hold five percent of the company and fifteen percent of the vote. I hope you all have a good day. I know I will." A news broadcaster states, "Oil tycoon JR Ewing announced today that he is getting rid of everything he owns, retiring and moving in with his son at the family's South Fork Ranch, stating 'It's time to let the next generation take over. I have three great kids, and I intend to step back and let them have at it. They don't need the old man interfering.' JR Ewing's shares in the Trident Corporation, which has begun the process of merging with CalcoHarwood, his last big business deal, will be divided up into trusts with his three children as the benefactors. When combined his shares are expected to be worth over fifty billion dollars, or fifteen percent of the total with a special class of stock holding forty-five percent of the vote. JR Ewing has put his four hundred foot yacht, the SES 67, up for sale. The bidding for which will take place next month. JRE Enterprises, his private investment company, has begun the process of selling off assets. Some have called this the end of an era." JR walks into the dinning room at six sharp saying, "I'm right on time." John Ross, sitting in Jock's chair says, "I was begging to wonder." "You don't have to worry about ole JR mission' a meal." With Ruby sitting on John Ross's right he grabs his shoulder and says, "Looks like we've got a guest. I ain't got to be worried about you being sweet on my girl do I?" Rebecca next to Ruby, JR leans over and kisses her cheek. "Looking lovely darlin'." With Bo next he pats his younger son in the shoulder. "Heard about you takin' on some business up in the Artic for Trident. You'll have to fill me in after dinner son." JR walks around his momma's empty chair and sits where he always sits with Sue Ellen next to him and Jack next to his grandmother, on his father's left. JR kisses Sue Ellen's cheek and says, "Evenin' darlin'. Then leaning forward and looking over at his grandson he says, "so Jack, I was think' we'd go fishin' tomorrow. What'd ya think?" Before he can answer Pamela shows up in the archway and says, "I hope I'm not late. Traffic was awful." John Ross stand with a cheesy grin on his face, "No not at all. Please. Helen hasn't even step out of the kitchen yet." He motions for her to sit in Miss Ellie's chair. She does. JR says, "Welcome darlin'. That's a mighty important chair to fill, but I do think you're capable." Helen begins bringing out the meal and the family begins to chatter over the din of silver in china.
