Jack goes over talking points Amy for a rally, big oil, Russian collusion, the future of nuclear energy. Suddenly the car swerves. A Hummer with blacked out windows attempts to run it off the road into a ravine. Jack yells up to the driver, “What the hells going on?” “I don’t know but that’s not our security detail,” he yells back right before the car rolls down a couple hundred feet. John Ross rides up to the back of Southfork as Lucy comes running out of the house. They both get up into a helicopter which quickly takes off. It’s joined in the air by two military looking helicopters. Inside Lucy says, “They’ve been survival flighted out to UCLA.” To Mateo John Ross says, “What happened to their security detail.” “Found dead in the abandoned Hummer.” “I hope you’re prepared to send one hell of a response.” “What are we doing?” Steven asks me n a towel, walking out of the shower. Alex, in a matching towel says, “I just can’t. I care about Jolie too. And Josh. My son deserves two parents.” Steven looks hurt. Alex holds him from behind. “It’s not that I don’t care about you Steven. It’s just, that’s not what this is about.” Two security guards enter the apartment. “Sorry Mr. Ewing. There’s been a breech. We have to secure you.” “What do you mean a breech?” Alex asks. The two grab up Steven and force him from the room. Jolie sits in the Southfork kitchen feeding Jay and Josh with a security guard standing watch. Lucas comes in the back door. “Have you heard anything?” “No.” “I just saw Hummer racing down the driveway. Probably Pamela and Logan.” “Colin’s back here.” “Pull him out of the field. He’s in the barn helping Buck with a constipated cow.” “Oh that’s pleasant.” Lucas and Jolie walk out back as Logan and Pamela come running up. “What the hell’s going on?” Pamela asks, Looking around at all the security, including soldiers with ground to air launchers on the balcony. “We’re all on lock down,” Jolie says. Apparently someone tried to kill Jack and Amy out in California.” “Oh my god.” Inside their private plane John Ross says to Lucy and Mateo, “He’s taken a big risk with his grandchildren.” “Tells you about the man,” Mateo says. Lucy’s silently angry. Logan enters John Ross’s study just to look around. He seems almost impressed with the room, seeing his great grandfather in it, his grandfather, and his father, without realizing they’re his. He can feel the power welded in the room. Pictures on the wall, certificates honoring those before him, JR’s belt buckle, Jock’s lion medallion, animal skins and prized mounts, everything in the room able to speak to him. A beautiful young woman walks in. “Oh sorry,” she says. “No it’s ok. I was just looking. I’m Logan Cantrell. My mother was married to Mr. Ewing.” “Oh yes. I’ve meet your mother. Ms. Barnes.” “Yes that’s her.” “I’m Melanie Scott. I work for Mr. Ewing’s assistant. I’m just dropping off some papers. He has us go through the back so as not to disturb the house.” “Oh I see. He’s not here. We’re all kind of on lock down.” “I heard. I’m sorry about Jack and his wife. I hope he’s alright.” “Yeah, were all a bit worried.” “Do they know what’s happened?” “No. Not that I know of.” “Well, I should be going.” “It was nice to meet you Melanie.” Colin jumps off his horse and dusts himself off. Not an ordinary rancher, dressed more like a equestrian in tight britches and polo shirt. Karin startles him. He says, “Any news on Jack and Amy?” “No. I was just thinking of taking a ride myself.” “Kinda clears one’s head.” “Why don’t you join me?” “I suppose I could. I hear your Amy’s cousin.” “I hear your cousins with Jolie and Jeremy Wendell.” “Through the marriage of our Aunt Charlotte.” “What a cozy family.” Karin smiles and rubs his back. Ellie sits in a private family room when Petrio walks in. She looks up at him. “Last person I expected to see.” “I’d just seen them right before they left for event. How are they?” “Jack’s in surgery. They’re looking for internal bleeding. Amy’s unconscious. They’re monitoring her.” “Can I see her?” “I’m not even sure why you’re seeing me. How does one go from Charlotte Wendell’s pet to being worried about my sister-in-law’s well being.” “She’s a friend.” “You teacher her at Bridgemount. Mathematics.” “Yes.” “My family is on the way. I think it’s probably best if you’re not here. Discretion.” “I’d just like to see her.” Ellie studies him. John Ross is approached by California state police as he walks down from his plane with Lucy and Mateo. “Mr. John Ross Ewing.” “Yes.” “I’m afraid we’ll have to arrest you and return you to Dallas. The court order granting your release on bond requires you to stay in Texas while your case is pending.” “What!” Lucy yells, they’re all but thrown the case out. His son is in the hospital.” “I’m sorry. He must seek the court’s express permission to leave the state, even in such a situation. I must take you into custody Mr. Ewing.”
