The Remains of Southfork – Late Afternoon

Rain poured gently as thunder rumbled in the distance. Moments earlier, a massive tornado had come through and went through half of the home known as Southfork. The lounge, where everyone had taken cover in was caved in. Eventually, members of the family began to push their way through the rubble. They soon found out that not everyone had survived the horrible disaster: two bodies were in their presence….

Michelle’s Hotel Suite – Late Afternoon

“What do you want from me? Why are you back after all this time?” Allison asked furiously.

“How could you let our daughter die like that?!”

“I had nothing to do with Alexis’ murder! Why do you even care? You used her as a tool against me!”

“She was my flesh and blood! I was going to raise her with my sister in Europe who actually made something of herself despite her hard upbringing and could’ve given Alexis every opportunity in the world, and then, you had to go and screw everything up! You were nothing but a nutcase who gave her a substandard life!”

“I was a damned-fine mother, you bastard! You and Blanch are nothing but pure evil! I couldn’t let you get away with her!”

“It’s to my understanding you recently had twin boys with a cowboy named Ray Krebbs,” George said as an evil smirk crossed his face. “Congratulations.”

Allison’s eyes widened in shock and hatred. “What are you getting at?!”

“That’s why I’m here, Allison. You took away the one thing that meant the most to me. Now, I’m going to take away yours,” George said venomously.

Michelle, restraining herself, exclaimed, “You touch them, and you’re dead!”

George soon faced her with his pistol, exclaiming, “You may want to finally learn to keep your mouth shut unless-“

Michael seized the opportunity and tackled George. Another brawl soon erupted. The Stevens sister both shrieked in terror when the trigger went off.

Dallas Memorial Hospital – Dusk

For a while now, Afton had been thinking of the conclusion of her conversation with Liz, who told her, “Fine. But, you’re one to say that you’ve seen my type before. I know damned well you were one of Tony’s prostitutes when he owned that whorehouse in Las Vegas back in the 70’s.”

“H-how could you know?”

“Oh, I happened to sneak in one day. I had always been warned to stay away from his businesses, but I decided to drop in at the one he was supposedly at one day, under a disguise, of course. I looked over at one of the rooms. Tony came out, telling some slut, “You were wonderful as always.” Guess who came out afterwards.”

Tears formed in Afton’s eyes as she shook her head.

“I take it Cliffy doesn’t know about any of this, does he? How could he ever look at you the same again for sleeping with Tony Orlando of all people!”

Reluctantly, Afton shook her head in a negative manner and wiped her teary eyes. “Oh, God, please don’t say anything to him or anyone else. He would never understand, and it would surely do him in in the shape he’s in now!”

“Well, keep your mouth shut about my pregnancy, and you’ve got no worries,” Liz stated evilly before leaving the restroom.

Pamela Rebecca turned to her mother and noticed her distress. “Mom, are you all right?”

“Your damned father’s on my mind, of course, and what’s taking Mitch so long?!”

Soon, two gurneys with bodies in wrapped, black bags were rushed in, and several members of the Ewings at Southfork appeared. It was quite apparent to Afton and Pamela Rebecca that something terrible had happened, considering the body bags and injuries of the others. Lucy appeared, barely able to walk amidst her tears. They rose from theirs in a puzzled, distraught manner.

Bobby and Sue Ellen noticed them and walked over. “What are you two doing here?”

“Oh, my God! It’s such a long story, but Cliff had a heart attack while sitting over at that chair, and-“

“Is he going to be all right?”

“I wish I knew,” answered Afton in a sad manner. “Just why are you all here? What the hell happened? Mitch was supposed to be here a long….” Her voice trailed off. She noticed the looks exchanged between Bobby and Sue Ellen, Lucy’s state of mind, and she remembered the body bags.

“I’m so sorry, Afton….”

Orlando’s Private Jet Bound for Dallas – Dusk

Orlando’s private jet had left the state of Florida a while ago and was bound for Dallas. The big man himself was busy, skimming through a magazine, while his right-hand man Miles sat in distant thought next to him. Soon the plane made a sudden turn that startled both men.

Pressing on the intercom connected to the arm rest of his seat, he belligerently asked, “Why are you turning?!”

“Mr. Orlando,” the pilot began nervously, “I’m afraid I received word that a terrible storm has struck Texas, and we have to land in Arkansas. Apparently, 12 tornadoes dropped down, and much of Northeast Texas was wiped off the map.”

A huge frown appeared on Orlando’s face before he cussed erratically which startled even Miles. “This is a joke, right? If the Ewings are gone, this completely ruins the final surprise I had for them!”

“I’m sorry, sir… it’s no joke.”

“Screw you, Mother Nature!”

Meanwhile, a woman dressed in black with a matching hat and veil sat in the back of the plane with some of Orlando’s henchmen.

Dallas Memorial Hospital; Miss Phyllis’ Room – Early Evening

Lying in bed with her head bandaged, Miss Phyllis came to and saw Nolan before her with his evil grin. She quickly rose up from her pillow despite her immense pain. “What the hell did you do to me?”

“You had quite a nasty fall, Phyllis. I just did the right thing and brought you to the hospital. How are you feeling?”

“I’m calling security!” As Miss Phyllis attempted to scream for help, Nolan stopped her.

“Do you really want to do that? I was serious when I said I’d have J.R.’s sentence overturned. I know you said blackmail wouldn’t work, but we both know I have the power to live up to my promise. I have proof, after all, that evidence was tampered with. J.R. may have been proven to be innocent in Jeremy Wendell's murder, but the law doesn’t overlook things like that, you know….”

“You know you’d get in trouble, too, you son of a bitch! You held this back all this time!”

“I had you abducted, didn’t I? If you blab about that, I get in trouble, and your family and friends as you call them will be up for charges. But… if you keep quiet and comply with my demands, everything will be as though nothing happened.”

“Sly saw you kidnap me! There’s no way around this!”

“If you convince everyone to keep their mouths shut, then you’ll get to keep Southfork, its mineral rights, and your stake at Ewing Oil,” Nolan answered firmly but with a certain grin.

“Jock deeded those mineral rights to his grandchildren. You may get the ranch, but you certainly can’t drill on it!”

“That’s where we convince all your great-nieces and nephews to sign their rights to me. If they truly care about their future and well being, they’ll go along.”

“Oh, you had this all planned out perfectly!”

“On top of all of that, I’ll have you back, too, Phyllis.”

“Just why aren’t you going after all of Ewing and just my shares?”

“I have no knowledge of the oil business, for one thing. I’ll need the help of your family to get started, and I enjoy having a little competition. You should know be by now.”

Dallas Memorial Hospital; the Hallway and Cafeteria – Early Evening

Ray and Jenna emerged from a room following examinations of their minor injuries. The two of them decided to have coffee, which Ray offered to get. He told his wife to go back to the waiting room while he fetched them. When he reached the cafeteria, he was shocked to see Allison and Michelle at a table. Reluctantly, he decided to approach them. “Allison, Michelle…. Why are you both here? Are the boys all right?”

Things were still a bit tense, considering the fact Ray impregnated Allison while separated from Jenna and went back to her. Allison seemed content with Ray’s presence, but Michelle was more distant.

“I left the boys with a babysitter, but they are just fine. I checked up on them a while ago. We’re here because my ex-husband showed up at Michelle’s.”

“What?!”

“He came back to do harm to our sons as some sort of revenge for what happened to Alexis, but… Michael killed him in defense. He’s being treated for some injuries he got during their fight.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Ray answered in shock. “Thank God he didn’t get to them.”

I also heard about those tornadoes. Please tell me nothing happened. Is that why you’re here?”

“…One of those damned twisters wiped out Southfork,” Ray answered with tears of frustration.

Both Allison and Michelle gave looks of horrific disbelief.

“Oh, my God!” Michelle exclaimed.

“What about the Ewings and everyone else?!”

“Unfortunately, Mitch and an old family friend who was visiting named Punk Anderson didn’t make it,” Ray stated sadly.

“My God….” Allison muttered as her voice trailed off. “Lucy must be a complete wreck right now. He was her life.”

Jenna, growing curious of Ray’s whereabouts, showed up at the entrance of the cafeteria and watched as Ray and Allison exchanged a tearful embrace. An angry yet hurt look came across her scratched face.

Dallas Memorial Hospital; Cally’s Room and Miss Phyllis’ Room – Evening

“Is she going to be all right, Dr.?” J.R. asked of Cally’s condition while sitting next to her.

“I have to say your wife is a very lucky woman, considering the situation she was in and also considering the fact that she’s paralyzed. The X-rays didn’t show anything out of the normal, so she should be free to leave in the morning with the rest of your family. I’m very sorry for the loss of your home. I can’t imagine what a burden that must be,” the doctor answered somberly and sympathetically.

“Thank you, Dr. I’m still trying to wrap that around my mind we have nowhere to go to now,” J.R. said, his voice trailing off.

“I’ll leave you two to be.” The Dr. quickly headed out.

“I can’t believe all of this, J.R. Southfork’s gone… and Lucy – oh, my God! When Terry was killed last year, I thought my whole world had ended. I’m going to be there for her.”

“I know you will be, Darlin’…. Oh, God… I just I knew if Auntie Phyllis was all right or not.”

“We’ve just got to keep thinking positive about it.”

“I’ve been trying. Look, I’m going to go check up on the others and give them a progress report… if that’s all right?”

“I’ll be fine.”

J.R. kissed his wife. “See you in a bit,” he said before rising from his chair and heading into the hallway. His eyes quickly widen when he sees Nolan emerge from a room and charges up to him. “Did you have anything to do with my Auntie Phyllis going missing?!”

---

Dallas Memorial Hospital; Outside the Restrooms – Evening

Allison emerged from the bathroom door and was greeted by Jenna’s enraged face. “Jenna, were you… were you waiting for me?”

“Damned right I was! What was that I saw in the cafeteria?”

Batting her eyes, Allison answered, “Just what in the world are you talking about?”

“You know what I mean – that embrace between you and Ray!”

“We were just comforting each other. In case you didn’t know, Michael-“

“Yeah! Ray told me all about it. It doesn’t change the fact that you had your hands all over my husband! I don’t care if the two of you conceived children while I was split from him! Keep away from my family! Ray was mine long before you even came into the picture!”

“For your information, Missy, the two of put aside our differences when you saw us. He’s got a right to know his sons,” Allison spat before she stormed off.

---

Dallas Memorial Hospital; Miss Phyllis’ Room - Evening

“Shh… J.R., calm down!” Nolan insisted.

“I won’t calm down till you give me an explanation!”

Nolan looked around the nearly empty hallway and motioned for him to enter Miss Phyllis’ room. After closing the door, he got satisfaction out of the shocked reaction from J.R., who rushed up to her.

“Oh, my God! Auntie Phyllis, are you all right?! What happened to your head?!”

“I’m just fine, Junior. I fell down is all. Everything is all right, believe me,” she tried to assure. "Why are you here in the first place?"

"I don't know how to tell you this, but those tornadoes got to Southfork, and... Mitch and Punk Anderson are dead."

Miss Phyllis covered her face while exclaiming, "Oh, no!"

J.R. allowed the news to settle a few moments before he turned to the other person in the room. “Nolan Darth, I’m going to make sure you regret harming my aunt for-“

“Now, Junior, you won’t be doing anything of the sort!” Miss Phyllis said firmly.

“What?! How can you say such a thing?! He’s the one who kidnapped you, isn’t he?!”

“We need to have a long talk with him, don’t we, my dear?”

Phyllis looked down shamefully and nodded. “Nolan and I are… married again.”

“What the?! You can’t be serious!”

“Nolan knows about us switching the guns used for Jeremy Wendell’s murder. He’s… got us good, Junior, I’m afraid,” Miss Phyllis answered in a depressed manner.

“What do you want in return, you piece of-“

“J.R., calm down. We don’t need anyone hearing anything, do we? So, let’s take it down a notch. What I want in return for my silence is Phyllis’ shares in Ewing Oil… as well as Southfork land and its mineral rights."

Southfork Ranch; the Garden – Early Afternoon

Mitch’s funeral had been delayed for the reconstruction of Southfork. Punk’s body had been flown to Tampa, FL to be buried next to Mavis. Fortunately, the original blueprints existed, so they were able to build it to be identical to the original house. The bad news was… the land and mineral rights were now owned by Nolan, who graciously allowed the Ewings to stay. The fact that he now owned Southfork was kept secret from anyone outside of the family and Ewing Oil.

Everyone sat gathered around the family cemetery as Mitch’s ashes were spread throughout the garden. Lucy was being supported by her parents and younger siblings in the front row. The rest of the members of the family sat with their respective partner.

Allison, dressed in a black dress, big hat, and sunglasses stood in the back. Ray took notice, which caused her to turn around. Telling Jenna he’d be right back, Ray hopped out of his seat and pursued Allison.

“Hold on a minute there,” Ray insisted, holding Allison back. “What’s with the hiding in the background thing?”

“Could we talk in the house?” Allison asked.

Ray followed Allison into the lounge and faced her. “Now, what’s this all about? I thought we put everything aside in the hospital.”

“We did, but… Jenna is worried we’re going to get back together or something-“

“She’s been questioning where I stand with her, but I didn’t know she confronted you. What did she say?”

“Jenna made it quite clear that she’s your woman and for me to stay away,” Allison answered. “I want you to have a relationship with your sons, but I don’t think she’s going to allow that.”

“I’m going to know my sons whether she likes it or not!” Ray exclaimed firmly.

The two of them stared longingly at each other before Allison’s eyes fell on the bouquet of dead, dried-up roses among all the flowers that had been sent for Mitch’s funeral. “Oh, my God!”

Ray turned to where she was looking. “What in the world?!” He found an envelope attached and read it: “I hope you enjoyed the flowers. I just wanted to send my condolences in my own special fashion and to tell you I’m back in town. I’ll be hearing from you soon.”

Allison shook her head in disbelief. “What?! The only person I could think who would send these is… Orlando!”

Ray shot out the door with Allison in pursuit. He approached Bobby and handed the letter. Jenna noticed Allison and gave her a venomous look. After reading the letter and hearing Ray’s explanation, Bobby’s eyes widened, and he stormed into the house with inquiring eyes from the rest of the guests.

“That sick son of a…. These weren’t here a half hour ago. Is he still here?!”

Bobby raced out of the house and watched as a black car sped from the house.

---

Dallas Memorial Hospital; Cliff’s Room – Early Evening

Afton and Pamela Rebecca entered just after the nurse wheeled away Cliff’s empty plate. Both of them kissed him on the cheek before seating.

“Mitch’s funeral was today, wasn’t it?”

“Yes,” Afton said with a deep sigh.

“Did it… did it go okay?”

“It seems as though Orlando’s going to be a problem again,” Afton answered in frustration.

“What the hell do you mean? I thought that son of a bitch hightailed it to the other side of the planet!”

“He or one of his people were at the funeral and left dead flowers with the ones others had sent-“

“What?!”

“Bobby and Ray were going to investigate, but the car sped away before anything could be done.”

Cliff reached over to the phone, saying, “I’m going to call to have security guards sent to the house!”

“Don’t get carried away and cause stress to your heart. I knew I shouldn’t have brought this up to you!”

“That man is a maniac and a menace who terrorized us who for God knows how long. Of course I’m going to do something about it!”

Blanch Myers' Residence in Paris; the Living Room - Morning (Paris Time)

Blanch Callaway Myers sat on her chair, thinking about the recent passing of her brother George. In just a few moments, she'd be leaving for a return to Dallas, a place she never expected to return. "I never thought in a million years that I'd ever consider returning to that wretched town. I have nothing but bad memories from growing up there, but I get to give you the last laugh, J.R. Ewing. You took my heart and shattered it into a million pieces, and your cousin killed my brother. Well, it's paytime for you, Sue Ellen and the rest of your family."

"Mrs. Myers," interrupted the butler. "Your limousine is waiting outside."

"Good. The sooner to Dallas... the better," Blanch said, smiling evilly as she rose up.

Michelle’s Hotel Suite – Late Afternoon

The sun had already begun to set in the western horizon, sending a beaming light-orange light through the balcony window. Michelle emerged from her bedroom with her luggage. Soon a knock came to the door. Rolling her eyes as she set her belongings on the sofa, Michelle asked, “Who is it?”

“Oh, thank God you’re still here,” Michael said in relief from the other end of the door. “I still can’t believe what you told me over the phone. Let me in so we can talk about this face to face.”

Michelle shook her head and opened the door for Michael who was still had minor bruises and scars from his brawl with George. “I don’t care what you say, I’m still leaving.”

Without permission Michael rushed past Michelle and stood in the middle of the room. “How can you make this decision now? My father and I just got our hands on Southfork. We’re sitting under one of the largest oil fields in the state. You’re just going to walk away from all of that?”

“The idea of obtaining all of that wealth and toying with J.R.’s head would’ve appealed to me, believe me, but the shooting… it reminded me of all the heartache this town has already put me through. I just can’t stay anymore.”

“You’re making a big mistake here, Michelle! This would’ve been the ultimate revenge to all that hurt my family caused you,” Michael stated.

“You’re still legally married to what’s her name, aren’t you? Why don’t you share it all with her?”

“I can’t believe what I’m hearing!”

“Well, believe it. I have a plane to catch, so… if you wouldn’t mind leaving so I can lock up….”

“I don’t care what you say now. You’re going to wind up regretting this for the rest of your life!” With that statement Michael stormed away.

---

McKay’s Hotel Suite – Late Afternoon

Mac entered his condo after having attended Mitch’s services at the reconstructed Southfork. His eyes widened at the site of his brother Richard, who sat on the sofa with a drink.

“I was wondering when you’d show up, Mac,” Richard said with a twist of humor.

“Just how in the hell did you get in here?”

“Oh, I just told the maid the truth that I was your brother, and she opened the door for me without any hesitation.” Richard took a swig of his drink.

“Why did you wait two weeks to get back in touch with me?! Answer me now!”

“Hey, hey…. Calm down and fix yourself a drink,” Richard said. “With the tornadoes that passed through shortly after I visited you, I figured you’d need time to get back into… the groove of things. Also, I needed time to get settled into a place of my own and to get acquainted with Dallas. Lively town.”

“You’ve got one sick, twisted sense of humor – always did! What makes you so sure I’m going to just hand over my position and stock at Westar over to you?”

“You see, Mac… I happened to be passing through our old hometown one day and decided to drop by the house we grew up in. The owner saw me from the front yard and asked what I was doing. When I told him I was one of the McKays who grew up there, he was quick to invite me in. He said that he had an old diary that was left behind when you sold the house to him when you headed off to Colorado. Guess who it belonged to, Grace.”

The fury in Mac’s face continued to grow. “What was in it?! I want it right now!”

“She was very candid about our affair… and the fact I’m Tracey’s father! I have written proof and plan to use it to my advantage. You cheated my family out of our inheritance. Now, it’s time for payback. Give me your part of Westar, and we’ll forget all about this.”

“Wasn’t sleeping with my wife enough revenge?”

“At one time I thought it was. When I got this diary, I realized just what I could gain from it, Mac,” Richard answered. “Since we parted ways, I’ve become quite an accomplished businessman. Your board would find me to be a very worthy successor.”

---

Southfork Ranch; the Lounge – Evening

Miss Phyllis, Clayton, J.R. and Cally sat in the lounge, enjoying after-dinner beverages, when Bobby and Sue Ellen walked in.

“Well, Gary, Val and the twins are on their way home now,” Bobby said.

“Where’s Lucy?” Sue Ellen asked in concern.

“She’s been up in her room since you both left for the airport,” Miss Phyllis answered. “We left some dinner for her. Hopefully, she’ll come down later and eat.”

“I just hope she pulls through this okay. I know it’s going to take a long time,” Clayton commented.

“Lucy’s a lot stronger than you all think,” J.R. said, raising his eyebrows. “I think she’ll be back on her feet very soon.”

“But, she never had to go through losing a husband before. I know what it’s like!” Cally retorted.

Bobby became concerned by the loudening of the voices in the room. “Maybe we better keep it down. We don’t need Lucy to hear any of this.”

Just then, Nolan and Michael entered the room, and they helped themselves to the bar.

“I see this hectic day won’t end on a positive note,” J.R. muttered bitterly.

“What, not happy to see us?” Nolan asked with a chuckle. “Michael and I just got back from dinner at the Oil Baron’s Ball. We got acquainted with some of your business friends there. Afterwards, we took a quick peek at our offices at Ewing Oil.”

“Where’s that Stevens woman at? I thought you two were an item now or something?”

“Michelle turned out to be a complete fool,” Michael answered with a hint of disappointment. “She threw it all away and left town.”

“What? Where did she go?” Bobby asked.

“I don’t know. Quite frankly, I don’t care!”

---

Allison’s Townhouse; the Nursery, the Living Room – Evening

In private Michelle said her goodbyes to her nephews who were sleeping quietly in their cribs. Afterwards, she returned into the living room, where Allison waited. “They’re so precious. I wish things turned out different in my life and that I settled down to have children.”

“You’re still young yet, Shelly,” Allison reminded. “I’m sorry it didn’t work out between you and Michael.”

“I got to see his true side when Southfork fell into his and Nolan’s hands. It’s all about money and power to him… and nothing else. I know he’d just throw me aside once he was through with me. I’m not going to let myself be hurt again, especially by a member of that family.”

“I’m so sad to see you go. We just reconnected after all these years apart, and now this,” Allison said, holding back tears.

“Why don’t you come to Chicago with me? Really, what’s keeping you here?”

“The boys deserve a chance to-“

“Yeah, yeah, I know what you said. But, is allowing them to develop a relationship with Ray the only reason? Deep down, I think you’re holding onto some romantic fantasy that he’ll drop Jenna and sweep you off your feet.”

“Look, I don’t know what will happen down the road. That marriage of theirs is a joke. All I know is that I’m content here in Dallas and have no intention on leaving,” Allison answered.

“Well, good luck to you. That’s all I can say,” Michelle said, rolling her eyes slightly.

---

The Barnes Residence; the Living Room – Morning

Afton and Pamela Rebecca wheeled Cliff into the living room….

“Well, how does it feel to be back home?” Afton asked with a smile.

“All I know is that I’ll never take your cooking for granted again. Hospital food… blech!”

“Can I get you anything?”

“Yeah. Can you wheel me over to the phone so I can call McKay?”

“Why do you need to do that?”

“I have to let him know I’m out of the hospital and that I’ll be back in the office in a few days,” Cliff answered.

“Cliff!”

“Daddy, the doctors wanted you off work for a lot longer than that!”

“I don’t care what those quacks said. I’m going to be back at Westar as soon as possible. If you and they have a problem with that, then you can all pound sand!”

“You never will change, will you, Cliff?” Afton stated disgustedly.

---

Southfork Ranch; Bobby and Sue Ellen’s Room, the Lounge – Morning

Sue Ellen was fixing her hair at the vanity mirror when Bobby emerged from the bathroom….

“Ready for another long day at the office?” Bobby asked laughingly.

“Bobby… we need to talk,” Sue Ellen said, her mind clearly occupied.

“Okay…. Is something the matter?”

“I know we’re supposed to be getting married in three months, but… do you think we should postpone it… with Lucy and everything?”

Putting his arms around his fiancé, Bobby said assuringly, “Look, by the time that comes, Lucy will have had time to heal. I wouldn’t worry about that. Let’s enjoy our special day.”

J.R. sat in the lounge, reading the newspaper, when the nearby phone rang. When he answered it, the voice on the other end sent a chill down his spine.

“Well, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it, J.R.?” Orlando said over the other end in a sneaky tone.

“Orlando?! You bastard, you left those dead flowers!”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought you all would love them.”

“Just where in the hell are you?! What games are you playing this time?!”

“I’m not at liberty to reveal that. I just wanted to let you know that you’ll be seeing me,” Orlando answered vaguely.

“What is that supposed to mean? Are you going to show up here at the ranch again?! Ewing Oil?! Where?!”

“Oh, you’ll just have to wait and see. I have a special day picked out. It’s perfect for the surprise I have in store.” Orlando turned to where the woman in the black dress and veil sat with bodyguards. “Believe me, it’ll be something none of you will ever forget."

Thank you for the kind words. I am not an orthodox fan and added change over time. I wrote this with two other members from 2002 to 2003. We lost touch, but it was a lot of fun.
