Christopher was holding baby Drew in his arms, as he was trying to rock him to sleep. “So the lawyer called yesterday and we have gotten a court date for the adoption procedure,” Elena told Christopher.“He called yesterday?” Christopher gave Elena a look. “And you wait until now to tell me?”“Sorry it just slipped my mind,” Elena apologized. “With the lack of sleep my mind is just shattered.”“I know what you mean, this little guy never wants to go to sleep when I want to sleep,” Christopher sighed. “I never knew I could be this sleep deprived.”“Yeah babies are a lot of work,” Elena yawned.“They are,” Christopher said. “Anyway when is our court date?”“Two weeks from today,” Elena said.“Great, I can’t wait for this little guy to become my son,” Christopher said, kissing the top of the baby’s head.“I am the luckiest woman on earth to have such a great husband,” Elena smiled when she saw them.“No I’m the lucky one,” Christopher said before he leant forward and gave Elena a kiss on the mouth. But then baby Drew of course felt left out and began to cry.“Oh no,” Elena sighed. “I thought he was about to drift off to sleep.”“So did I,” Christopher said, when it rang on the doorbell. Elena and Chris exchanged a look and Chris said. “Can you?”“Sure,” Elena sighed, as she got up and got the door. Christopher then continued to rock the crying baby until Elena came back with Pam in tow.“Hi Christopher,” Pam smiled, at the image of domestic bliss in front of her. Then she walked up to her son and grabbed hold of the baby’s little finger, “Hi Drew!” She cooed at the baby.“Hi mom!” Christopher smiled. “I would get up to give you a hug but I sort of have my hands full.”“Drew has decided that he doesn’t want to go to sleep,” Elena sighed.“I can hear that,” Pam said, holding out her hands. “Here maybe I can help?”“If you don’t mind,” Christopher said.“Of course not, I’d love to hold my grandson,” Pam said as she gently picked up the baby from Christopher, holding his little head up against her chest, while she gently started rubbing his back. It apparently did the trick since Drew stopped crying.“That was amazing how did you do that?” Christopher asked.“Oh I just rubbed his back like I used to do with you when you were little.”“Wow! Grandma’s still got the magic touch,” Elena said.“Yeah now we might get some sleep tonight,” Christopher said. “Thanks mom, I don’t know what we would have done without you. He’s been crying three nights straight.”Pam made a face when she heard that, “About that, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.”Elena and Chris exchanged a look, before Elena asked, “What’s wrong?”“I’ve decided to go back home,” Pam said and when they gave her some weird looks she added after a beat, “To Abu Dhabi.”“What?” Christopher exclaimed in such an upset voice that it woke the baby.“But Dallas is your home,” Elena insisted.“Yeah you promised that you’d stay in Dallas and watch Drew grow up!” Christopher said, as he snatched the baby away from Pam. It made Drew start to cry again.“I know and I’m sorry but I have to go back to Abu Dhabi,” Pam said. “I don’t want to leave you but I can’t stay in Dallas after what has happened.”“I don’t understand,” Christopher said, looking hurt. “Before you wanted to stay so what’s happened?”“It’s between your father and me,” Pam said secretively trying to keep her private life to herself. But Christopher surprised her.“I already know he spent the night with you!”Pam looked embarrassed and surprised when she heard that, “He’s told you?”“I figured it out,” Christopher said.“Oh,” Pam said. “So then you know why I can’t stay here?”“No I don’t,” Christopher said in an upset tone of voice. “Your family is here!”“Yes but it hurts too much right now to see Bobby with Ann,” Pam made a face, “and besides it’s not safe for me here in Dallas.”“Not safe?” Christopher asked.“What makes you say that?” Elena asked.“Well Bobby told me that someone tried to kill me,” Pam said.“What?” Elena exclaimed.“But that was almost 30 years ago,” Christopher said.“I don’t get it,” Elena said, looking to her husband for an explanation.“Mom’s accident,” Christopher clarified, as he handed Drew to Elena. “I had Bum look into it and it turned out Harris Ryland was behind it.”“Oh no!” Elena made a face.“So considering everything I really must go back home,” Pam said. “But I do expect you to come visit me and we can e-mail each other and call and...”“But it won’t be the same,” Christopher said, as the tears started to well up in his eyes.“I know,” Pam said. “Anyway my flight leaves tonight. I just wanted to drop by and say goodbye.”“Well you shouldn’t have bothered,” Christopher said angrily before he turned around and rushed off.“Oh God!” Pam gasped as she hadn’t meant to hurt her son. She made a motion to follow him but Elena stopped her.“Let him go!” Elena said. “He’s hurting right now. But give him some time and he’ll come around.”“I hope so since I don’t want to lose my son again,” Pam said.“You won’t,” Elena said before she reached out and squeezed Pam’s hand in a silent gesture of support. Christopher on the other hand was crying to himself, feeling abandoned once again. Just when he’d gotten used to have his mother back she was leaving him again and although he was a grown man now it still tore up the old wounds from his childhood. He was hurting real bad and just like then he blamed himself for that his mother was leaving him. Back then he thought it was because he was adopted. Now he thought it was because he had started to poke around about his mother’s accident since apparently some stones were better left unturned. So yeah having his mother leave him again hurt like hell.</blockquote>
