It was the only place in the palace where they could get some privacy from their guests. They were sitting on some old treasure chest while Ann was tending to Harris wounds, “I’m so sorry about Bobby’s behavior,” Ann apologized. “I don’t know what he was thinking, attacking you like that.”“Don’t be,” Harris waved it away. “I am sure I had it coming. I do know exactly which buttons to press to upset him.”“Still he shouldn’t have attacked you like that.”“I would have done the same thing if someone had done to you what I did to Pam,” Harris said.“Pam?” Ann looked at Harris in bewilderment. “What could you possibly have done to her?” Ann wondered. “You barely know the woman.”“That’s true. But I did drive that tanker that Pam crashed her car into.” Harris confessed.“What?” Ann dropped her mouth in shock.“The police ruled it an accident, but Bobby somehow found out that I drove the truck and now he blames me for ruining his marriage.”“But that’s absurd!”“Tell me about it,” Harris sighed. “I’m sorry to say it but your husband loses his head whereas his first wife is concerned.”“So I’ve noticed,” Ann sighed.“He even beat me up because he still loves her,” Harris said.“I see,” Ann stiffened, when she heard that and put down her hand with the antiseptic.“You don’t seem all that surprised.”“That’s because Bobby cheated on me with Pam,” Ann confessed. Telling him made her vulnerable but they had been so close lately that she wanted him to know.“Cheated on you?” Harris asked. “How is that possible?” He gently reached up and cupped her cheek.“I’ve asked myself the same thing a hundred times, but it’s true,” Ann said before she reached up and placed a band aid on Harris forehead.“Are you sure it’s not just a malicious rumor?”“No he told me himself that he cheated on me with her,” Ann confided in Harris as she pulled back from his hands.“Then he’s an even bigger idiot than I thought!”“Well he clearly doesn’t trust me either,” Ann said, as a tear ran down her cheek. “Did you know that he’s Lucas real father?”“What?” Harris dropped his chin, as his eyes widened in shock, “No, you mean to tell me that our little girl is married to your husband’s son?”“So you didn’t know?” Ann asked. “It’s funny I thought for sure that would have turned up in your background check. Didn’t you check his birth certificate?”“No,” Harris sighed. “I never went that far back. I just checked his school records and more recent stuff. Damn! I thought Jenna and Ray were his parents.”“Well legally he’s Ray’s son. He’s adopted him,” Ann said.“Well good,” Harris said.“Still I’m hurt that Bobby didn’t trust me enough to tell me he has another son,” Ann said in an upset tone of voice. “I mean why didn’t he tell me?”“Maybe for the same reason that you kept Emma a secret from him,” Harris suggested.“But I thought Emma was kidnapped,” Ann said. “Bobby’s always known where Lucas was. He’s just never cared to go see him.”“Well I’ve always thought Bobby was an asshole,” Harris said. “This just proves my point.”“Harris...”“I know, he is your husband and you don’t wanna bad mouth him,” Harris sighed. “Still it hurts me to see you this upset Annie. I love you so much and yet there’s nothing I could do to...”“Harris please,” Ann said.“I know, you are married and you don’t love me anymore.”“That’s not exactly true,” Ann sighed. “See a part of me do love you.”She didn’t need to tell him that twice before he seized the opportunity to steal another kiss. Ann kissed him back with a passion but then he suddenly pulled back. “I’m sorry,” Harris apologized. “It won’t happen again.”“What if I want it to happen again?” Ann asked.“Then it’s a different thing,” Harris smiled at her. “But what about your marriage?”“My marriage is pretty much over anyway,” Ann sighed, as it pained her to admit that. Still having Harris waiting in the wings to sweep in did ease her pain a little.“Good,” Harris said before he leant forward and kissed Ann again.To Be Continued...</blockquote>
