EastEnders Grant Mitchell storylines had he not left in 1999:-
He would have probably had a string of failed relationships and short lived marriages with the leading ladies of Walford, not to mention affairs,
I could imagine him hooking up with the likes of Tanya,
A short lived reunion with Sharon,
Been involved with dodgy dealings and criminal activities - He would've held the fort whilst Phil and Peggy went awol in 2004/05 going up against Den after being swindled out of the Vic. Would love to have seen his reaction when Sharon waltzed back in 2001, to reveal she's the owner.
When Sharon returned as Vic owner Phil went to kick her out of the square and she talked him around - Grant wouldn't be as easy, he would have got rid. Obviously she wouldn't be back for two episodes, so she would have had to have had his child after leaving and told no one and revealed it to him in order to stick around, or would have known about Michelle's son and told him, having only found out. Peggy would then be grateful and tell Grant they will let her stay in the Vic....... But only if that child comes to live there too.
There would have been another Sharongate, but this time Phil would find about Sharon's kiss with Grant.
Grant probably would have banged Sharon again at some point, had another near death fight with Phil, maybe if he and Jane would have got together Lucy wouldn't have died ... probably a whole lotta things wouldn't have happened if Grant stayed on the show - including Ronnie & Roxy, Archie, Sam being fleeced for the pub.
Grant could return with his new wife Belinda (yes Belinda Slater/Peacock) and they can run the Vic.
Grant and Linda affair would be great with Mick leaving the show - Sharon would start being weird around Linda showing her inner jealousy. Their friendship starts to breakdown. Phil gets wind of it and trouble escalates.
Sharon and Kathy both thought they'd married the wrong Mitchell brother, and how Phil was even more nasty with Kathy eventually when she returned in 2015, eventually Kathy would probably think and say "Grant was the nice side of Phil".
Both Mitchell Brothers began differently to how they both eventually became - Phil became the bad one and Grant mellowed out.
Having said that, Phil/Sharon could've remained a one night stand and for Kathygate to happen between Grant and Kathy around 1997/1998 to 1999.
1990-1999 were Steve McFadden's best 9 years in the show as Phil Mitchell, even if he always was the nasty one of him and Grant, starting off the affair sleeping with his brother's wife and starting a fire that killed another individual, Tiffany ran over murdered was just an accident, otherwise so therefore Phil was ALWAYS the nastier one even in the 1990s with a streak about him, Phil is and has been THE pathetic stuntwounded animal and a continual geriatric asethematic. Ross Kemp is a better actor, let's all go back to 2004, Steve McFadden began in tv presenting, whilst Ross Kemp did the drama series Ultimate Force within the army.
Phil in EastEnders should have left in 1999, and only occasional returns whenever Grant returned. The only reason Grant got made to look bad, big and shouty was because of crap actress character Tiffany/Martine McCutcheon, even Coronation Street's Tracy Shaw/Maxine was more attractive.
