It's been done before, but there's a difference between schlager-country and rock country. "Our" Calm After The Storm was a beauty and also the best song for 2014, unfortunately the public favoured Conchita's statement act, he didn't win with his song. It's a dark page in the history of Eurovision and I rather not think about it anymore. I had to lie down for a moment and I just woke up with a Eurovision medley going on in my head. The fact that these songs already sound so very familiar only confirms my impression that this is one of the strongest competitions we've ever seen. There's also some clever sampling going on but it could be accidental of course. "Outlaw In 'Em" sounds like "Paradise City" (Guns N Roses). I guess the number of chord combinations isn't unlimited, and eventually everything will sound a little bit like something else. It's not going to be a deciding factor for me. I no longer agree with my lists, and some Eastern-European entries should be on that Winners List: Franka's "Crazy" - CROATIA The sultry sound reminds me of Sam Brown's "Stop". Mikolas Josef's "Lie To Me" - CZECH REPUBLIC I think it has more radio-play longevity than Norway's "That's How You Write A Song" (which is getting annoying pretty fast). For some reason I missed DoReRos' "My Lucky Day" (MOLDOVA) and it's very good in the eurodance genre. "Bones" by Equinox is just so mesmerizing in some parts, I'm going to add it to the winners list too. I like the song from ITALY but their live performance was awful, just awful. "Funny Girl" (LATVIA) and "Forever" (BELARUS) are great songs, but these vocalists are not the best choices. Not because they can't sing, but because their voices don't suit the songs. "Funny Girl" needs a breezy and more relaxed voice (I'm thinking of Sam Brown again) and what hinders "Forever" is the fact that they make him do these vocal acrobatics, and the poor guy is so, so nervous. I would have preferred a duet performance. I'll try to compile my definite Favourites Top 10 but it's going to be very difficult. @Karin Schill have you heard all the songs yet, maybe you could post your top 10 too?
