I enjoy reading interviews with soap actors and I just read another one with Krista Allen. In general I like her way during interviews, she sells herself and B&B well but unfortunately there is always something off like with most soap actors. In the interview she praised her time on Days over the top, all the actors were great, she loved her role as well as the storylines. The death of baby Georgia was particularly memorable for her, but she was stunned to learn that Chelsea turned out to be Georgia. If Krista Allen is such a fan of Days and her role as Billie, she should know about this twist, especially since it all happened at least ten years ago. I think it's a rarity for soap actors to actually engage with their soap world.

I really like Krista but I’m still struggling with her as Taylor. Nothing she’s doing wrong but to me there’s only one Taylor. She hasn’t been bad in the role from what I’ve seen but it’s just hard to get into Taylor and Ridge again when it’s not Hunter and Ronn.
However, I think something needs to be said for actors that do step into that recast position. Everyone is quick to turn on them but it really can’t be easy for them. Replacing a beloved character is something they have to know going in will usually backfire and I respect them for trying to make it work.

I think the recently fired (from Y&R) Richard Burgi would be an excellent recast for Ridge. Thorsten Kaye just doesn't embody that "aging womanizer" character that Ridge ought to be written as.

I never considered that one. I can definitely see him playing Ridge. I have nothing against TK but I think it would work.

I'm getting used to NuTaylor faster than I thought. Maybe it's because there is other stuff on B&B I dislike more than Taylor's wig.
I didn't have any major problems with Thorsten Kaye at first. The relationships with Katie and (Linsey Godfrey's) Caroline were both worth watching for me. I like it when a recast does something different, and I couldn't have imagined Ronn Moss getting romantic with either actress. Thorsten Kaye had chemistry with both, but in recent years I've liked him less and less. I keep wondering if Ridge would react a certain way or if Ridge was actually the way TK portrays him. Anyway, the script is probably the real problem and not TK.

Totally agree! I can’t blame TK for the lackluster storylines he’s given to work with. As I always say with this show now, just tune in one day a week and you won’t miss a thing. The same scenes they show on Monday are still being done at the end of the week. It’s like time stands still. And the amount of flashbacks alone make it obvious you’re not missing anything.

B&B needs to do something major. Brooke kissing Deacon while drunk is not big enough to carry a storyline for 3 months. Carter being blackmailed by Grace is not big either.
Break up Brooke & Ridge for a very long time. Years. Stop having people constantly butting in. Stop repeating dialogue. And don't do flashbacks of what happened so very recently.

The show needs an event. Something shocking that shakes everything to its foundation. And not just shocking for the sake of being shocking, no. But it has to make sense and tie into multiple characters, something life changing. Bill Bell was the master at this. Hopefully Brad can come up with something. These current storylines are not the answer.

The one common denominator among most of the cast is Forrester Creations. If they could find some creative way to have the firm taken over by some mysterious corporate raider who intends to fire the Forresters from the company and move their operations overseas, it would shake things up, all right. Especially if they could bring back several other past villains to cause trouble in the lives of each of the Forresters (just as Sheila and Deacon are already doing). Keep all the family members busy with personal dramas while the company is slowly bought up and the viewers all wonder who is pulling the strings. In short, Knots Landing's Season 14 plotline surrounding the Sumner Group. Too bad Darlene Conley's no longer alive to bring back Big Sally as the Abby in their version!

Or they can have someone put FC on fire and burn down the whole company with many people still inside. One or two characters dies. Everything ruined and no one knows who did it.

I like this idea! I think it’s definitely an event big enough that would get people talking again. It’s perfect. Way better than anything they’re doing now anyway.

They'd have to play/write it very carefully, though, because such 'disasters' can come off as desperation (even if, occasionally, they are). Search for Tomorrow needed a similar shot in the arm in the mid-1980s, so they staged a flood that swept through their fictional town of Henderson. Though it was produced well and gave them a chance to re-set the plotlines of the show, critics jumped on it as a "last-ditch effort to save the show from cancellation," and in fact it ended up getting the ax. They had not been doing well, but the only thing the Henderson Flood accomplished was getting people to talk....about how the show must be on its last legs. They blew a lot of money on the actual flooding scenes, then spent more to "rebuild the town" (new sets), too.
B&B could stage even more of a spectacle since they have so much more money to burn (hehe), and I have this vision of Susan Flannery sitting at home laughing as they stage their homage to her performance in The Towering Inferno.
