The Voting Shares storyline was also farfetched. Gary and Ray knew nothing about the oil business or Ewing Oil to be trusted with voting shares as to who the President of the company should be. Gary giving his shares to his equally know nothing daughter was especially stupid as well.

That scenario reflects reality. Having business knowledge is no requirement for having controlling interest in a company.

For example, Ferdinand Porsche left his company Porsche/VW to his, son and daughter. Both of them had 4 children. That's 8 children in total plus grandchildren controlling one of the biggest employers in Germany. None of them actively runs the company. They only meet from time to time to discuss various topics, agree on a chairman etc.

As the big well-known companies have been founded 2-3 generations ago - the board of directors in Central Europe are full of people without any knowledge about the daily business. The family often decides to stay out of the daily business (mostly to keep the peace within the family) and let the company be run by a non family member. It's just too complicated otherwise.

There was a lot that was far fetched (Cathy's husband manager contacting Abby to see of she could use a Ciji lookalike)

This helped toss aside the idea that Abby just randomly found a lookalike who dropped out of the proverbial sky.

Exactly. I don't remember the bit about the PI, but the idea that Ray Geary instigated it was the part that made it less farfetched.
