Caught up with this last night and looks like it will be really good

Contemporary thriller. Helen McCrory plays Emma Blunt, a solicitor known for defending lost causes. As Emma digs deep into her cases, she begins to sense powerful forces, in the police and the intelligence services at home and abroad.

What is Fearless about?

From Homeland and 24 writer Patrick Harbinson, Fearless is a new ITV thriller which follows Emma Banville (McCrory), a human rights lawyer known for defending lost causes, as she sets out to prove the innocence of convicted child murderer Kevin Russell.

Kevin maintains his innocence after 14 years in prison, and Emma is determined to reveal the truth behind his supposed crime.

As she investigates the case, Emma risks her career, reputation and even her personal life, as shadowy forces within the police and intelligence services attempt to stop her from uncovering what really happened.

Harbinson says that at its core, Fearless is about “an abuse of justice and an abuse of power”.

“Kevin Russell is convicted of murdering 15-year-old Linda Simms in 2003,” he explains, adding: “Political forces with no obvious connection to the case are determined to ensure that his conviction is upheld.”

The gripping new drama began last night (Monday June 12), with episode one now available to watch online on the ITV Hub.

Who is in the cast of Fearless?

Peaky Blinders actress Helen McCrory leads the new drama as formidable lawyer Emma Banville.

“We’ve seen strong female leads on TV, but Patrick Harbinson has created a character I’ve never seen before,” McCrory said.

“A very vulnerable hero to the next generation. A woman who really is a pioneer and is finding her own way. A reaction to her own damaged past. But also Emma cares so much about what’s happening in the world about her. “

Jonathan Forbes plays Dominic Truelove, a former police officer who works with Emma to uncover the truth behind Linda’s murder.

“Dominic asks Emma questions that coming from another person would sound unsympathetic, challenging or confrontational,” Forbes said.

“But because they’re close, because there’s a deep respect. he can ask her things other people wouldn’t ask. Also he can make her laugh.”

Sam Swainsbury plays Kevin Russell, who has served 14 years for a murder he says he didn’t commit.

At the time of his arrest, Kevin’s then-fiancé Annie Peterson (Rebecca Callard) was pregnant with their son Jason.

Annie firmly believes in Kevin’s innocence, and hires Emma in an attempt to get him acquitted.

Wunmi Mosaku plays DCS Olivia Greenwood, who was the investigating officer on the Linda Simms case and now works for counter-terrorism.

Comedian John Bishop takes a rare dramatic turn as Emma’s boyfriend Steve Livesey.

Michael Gambon, best known for playing Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films, stars as Sir Alastair McKinnon – an influential and highly-respected academic and former Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Office.

Completing the main cast is Robin Weigart as CIA employee turned private contractor Heather Myles, and Jamie Bamber as the Simms’ local MP Matthew Wild.
