John's farewell feels like the best fan fiction a fan could have written. It really offers everything. Could it have been done better? I agree, I also found the scene when Bo learned that Victor and Doug had died very touching. I always thought Ron C was a great writer when it came to deaths and mourning, but the new head writers don't have to hide behind him. I like that it's not too much grieve (although, of course, it is a lot). The fact that Kat, a character we already know, has a past with John and Sami is also a cool twist, certainly a much better one than Doug's stealing grandson, whom we had never heard of and who somewhat ruined the mourning for Doug back then. I also like that John's farewell isn't a big three-episode event, but a three-week event in which other storylines are also shown. This gives those who may have only returned because of John a good impression of what Days is like now, although I don't think the other material offers much reason why a non-regular viewer should stick with it after John's funeral.
