HBO/Discovery new streamer, simply called Max, will be host to the new Harry Potter TV series.

It's a huge project. 10 years are planned. Each season will follow one of the novels. Things the movies left out or changed will be in the series.

They are currently looking for a showrunner and will then begin searching for actors to step into these characters. J.K. Rowling is part of the project.

I’ve just heard about this from a coworker who was all excited and said it starts on the 21st. To which I looked up and sadly I informed them this was a teaser to promote the rebranding the show has not been cast and it’s not the original actors. It’s interesting but is it needed?

no it's not needed but we all know it was going to happen at some point, all i ask is a good cast, writers, directors and for them to follow the books more than the films and lastly not to do something that says oh this is MY vision as i see it that way cause 99% of the time it's utter shit when that's done. i also want someone who cares about the franchise and isn't just out to make money but they really do want to see the books done better than the films.

They are currently looking for a showrunner
Look no further than our good friend, that showrunner responsible for TNT Dallas. This is a perfect vehicle for her as she has experience in ignoring history, i.e. she will not have watched the original movies, will create new characters unheard of before but will somehow retcon them into the original story.

The films left out huge chunks of story and plots and also changed many events. A TV season per book is the perfect solution. This time around I pray they get Prisoner & Half Blood right because the films of those 2 in particular were dreadful.

I'

I'm not a Potter fan but I did wonder if what would be essentially expanded remakes are really what was wanted, rather than finding a way to tell new stories.
It seems too soon to remake reboot. It’s been just over 20 years, and just over 10 since the last movie. The
Novels were still being written what 15 years ago.
I guess everything gets remade at some point in some form or other.

I’m the end DS it’s all about the money lol. Yes hopefully they get someone who really cares and will run the show. The movies it all depended who the producer director was etc

for me the weakest film is half blood prince, my favorite film and favorite book is Order of the Phoenix and that's the one that really needs more added the most i think.
in hogwarts legacy which i beat this past weekend there is a character called Ommis Gaunt i'm not even sure i spelled that right? he's a Gaunt that is a good guy actually and wants nothing to do with his family. since the game took place during the 1890's. i wonder if Voldemort later killed him? i don't think the game is cannon though so maybe not? i don't think we need a reboot but i do understand why there is hatred towards the show. and it's more to do with her awful remarks than anything.

we all knew they were gonna reboot it sooner or later now does it need it? hell no but if they ever were going to do it they should follow the books more than they did in the 1st place and not make shit up that they did in the previous films though that Dancing Scene in one of the films wasn't needed i get why it was there at the same time.

It seems like a win-win situation. If the series turns out to be great, hurrah, and if it's going to be one of those good-looking yet soulless streaming assembly line products then we'll re-appreciate the original films.
I guess Daniel Radcliffe is going to play a teacher or another guest role. I mean, that's almost a remake-rule.
