The Brady Bunch lot could never be turned into a shopping mall (or the modern equivalent). Sadly, Southfork can -- and likely will.

Even the Ponderosa got razed in 2004 after a 37-year run, despite a still-brisk tourism business, because those Lake Tahoe property values had so surged.

Texas doesn't even want to historically preserve Dealey Plaza (it only exists today because of an old Depression era works project thingamajig).

it may seem like a forgone conclusion in 2026, but as we saw in the show, it took a true real estate development visionary to realize this in the late 70s!

I’m not surprised by the housing development encroachment on Southfork.. other than the question of what happened to all that oil under Section 40!

There was talk recently of demolishing Reunion Tower in order to facilitate a new high speed railway service. And currently there are plans (which are being opposed) to demolish City Hall for a new redevelopment.

If not, they should.
The city of Dallas should slap some form of historical heritage on Southfork Ranch. Up until the television series, Dallas was known only as the place where a former President was assassinated. The city should be on bended knee thanking the Ewing family for changing how people inside and outside The United States viewed the city.

Granted Dallas the series is difficult to come by for viewing though hopefully this may change with streaming. The Brady Bunch is easier for commercial stations to show around the world because each episode is self-contained and I imagine cheaper to purchase.
