Already to go.” “You can smell the fall starting to fill up the air. Let’s get to New York and I’ll introduce you to your teacher.” She then stops, noticing the the reluctance on his face. “Are you OK?” “Just a little nervous to go someplace different.” “Different is good. And besides I’m there every step of the way. You won’t face anything different without me.” “Thank you”. Brooklyn hugs her. Downstairs Jacqueline, Albert and Calvin rush to hug Lucy good bye, calling her grandma and saying good bye to Brooklyn. Brooklyn tells them he’ll text them from all the places he goes. Jacqueline says, “Yeah, we’ll just be at Cranbrook. You’re so lucky.” A nanny directs the three kids out of the house. Brooklyn says, “I can’t wait to come back l next year.” “Think of all the great stories you’ll have.” Liang comes in the house, “Everything’s all packed. We’re ready.” Lucy announces, “OK on to the next great adventure,” and the three of them walk out. Lucy stops and looks around. “Until we meet again old friend.” Ryan in a prison jump suite turns to enter the back of a van, stops and looks around behind him at the last of the free space he’ll know. He says to the guard, “You know if I had to do it all over again, I’d listen more.” “Good idea.” He watches people walking away from the building. “I’d let more go. And I’d enjoy more.” He turns, pulls himself up, skipping the step like a happy child. The officer places his hand on Ryan’s back and steadies him so Ryan can get into the van.” Jay sits up in bed alone, a smile comes across his face. “I miss you grandpa. Thank you.” He looks at a small card placed on his night stand and reads, “Thank you, Jay, for giving me this gift. Eddy.” Jay smiles. Eddy pulls himself up into a small private plane, looking back, a grin spreading across his face, and then inside, pulling up the stairs. Lisa sits on the edge of her bed with the afternoon sun shinning in the room. She begins to take pills, swallowing them with a glass of water until an untold some are gone from the night stand. She then lays down on the made bed, closes her eyes and rests. Dia walks I to Sam’s office. Sam isn’t there. The secretary asks if she can get him anything. He says no, to just shut the door. She does, leaving him along. He sits in the chair and reaches across to feel the solid wood of the desk, taking in the location, the importance and his position. Edgar holds out his hand, “Edgar Rosemont.” “Mr. Rosemont,” an older Chinese man says, taking his hand. “Wang Lei.” “Welcome to BingBishop. Let me show you around.” “I hear that Samuel Riebmann is stepping down to support his wife’s campaign.” “Not yet. But Dia Li is getting use to the chair. There is very little to block her power once she’s in office. You’ll have BingBishop.” “And you’ll have a share of the SinoHuà.” “And a government friendly to letting SinoHuà walk away with the Ewing Process.” “It appears so.” Wang Lei holds his hand out again. “To friendships.” At a county fair Amelia takes the stage. There’s a thunderous applause. She’s followed by Sam. “It’s time we expect Congress to give back to Michigan!” Her voice echoes through the field filled with an audience and fair rides and booths. “We’re done asking our country what we can do for it.
