Celeste Holm (FC guest star Anna Rossini) tells us all it all started for her in Hollywood.
That would have been a good casting decision. I always felt that Jane Greer was a bit too low key in the role and someone like Celeste (or Ginger Rogers who was originally considered for the role) would have given the character a bit more dynamism. She could also have pulled off the role of Charlotte Pershing, with her singing experience.
Charlotte is a weak and vulnerable sad characterThat would have been a good casting decision. I always felt that Jane Greer was a bit too low key in the role and someone like Celeste (or Ginger Rogers who was originally considered for the role) would have given the character a bit more dynamism.
Anne Rossini was a good character but as the writers used to do they made her crazy and Cassandra stupidYou could see Celeste's early theatre influence trickle into her FALCON CREST work and imho it worked. She could also have pulled off the role of Charlotte Pershing, with her singing experience.

Celeste Holm, Cesar Romero and Anne Archer.
Anna and Cassandra have a chat; after Fr. Chris is revealed as the love child of Julia and Anna's husband Dominic, (a scene from season 5, 1985-'86):
Anna speaks to Cassandra: "Julia was so beautiful; so young, so easy. I threatened your father. I said I would take you and your brother far away. He swore he’d stop me. He said I was crazy if I couldn’t see that it was over between us. He kept saying I was crazy. I couldn’t let anyone take my Dominic away from me. I saw him first. He was mine."
I like Jane Greer but Celeste would've been a great Charlotte! You could see Celeste's early theatre influence trickle into her FALCON CREST work and imho it worked. She could also have pulled off the role of Charlotte Pershing, with her singing experience.
