Coronation Street How much do the writers and directors get paid?

With all the recent talk of itv trying to reduce budgets due to flagging ratings, does anyone know what the going rate is these days for writing or directing an episode of Corrie or Emmerdale?

Do they get paid more or less than members of the cast?

Writers and directors on a soap opera will get paid a lot less than the cast because they are dispensable. If they ask for more money, they can be replaced and no one would really notice but the same couldn't be said for the cast. I would guess the writers and directors are paid around £2000 per episode.
