Cause he knows that if he ran against Hillary, he'd steal enough votes from her to make Trump President. And he's sane enough to know that's the worst case scenario. So it was good of him to back out of the race, knowing that he didn't win the Democrat nomination. I would have done the exact same thing. Better lose with dignity and try to avoid a catastrophy than to be selfish.
