is there anyone else who remembers a tv show called "The Optimist"

I remember a wonderful show that aired on Channel 4, it was called "The Optimist" it starred Enn Reitel if I recall he never spoke and I definitely saw an episode where he was at a garden party as a waiter with marquees and a swimming pool. I also think the tune that played during the show was very similar to the Steptoe and Son theme song.

Anyway I would be very keen to find out if anyone else watched it.

I vaguely remember this airing on RTE in Ireland in the late 80's / early 90's. It used to be on before the 6pm news IIRC. The only episode that I can remember is one where he went to the races.

Thank you Carrie Fairchild. That's a very detailed recollection. Nice to know it was remembered by somebody else. It was very like Mr Bean and most enjoyable. I would love to see some footage of it online somewhere.
