Snarky Oracle!
Telly Talk Newbie
They said that at his funeral --- what the hell were they talking about??

JR was right about a lot of things
small sample
IE Clayton was an outsider, interloper, carpetbagger.
It was a disgrace that Clayton was given half of Southfork
He was right to protest the Southfork giveaway to Garrison
He was right that Pam interfered too much
He was right to be suspicious of Jamie, although his treatment of her was part of the problem
Jock's painting should have remained at Southfork - Jock saved the property.
Gary lacked a certain Ewing strength
Bobby has handed a lot of things that JR had to earn
Ray was a good foreman, not a businessman
Cliff Barnes was a thorn in the Ewing's side
The Asian oil deal was risky, but it did increase the Ewings' wealth and he does deserve some credit for it, despite his approach
There is more, but that suffices for now
I got the impression they meant he was right about drilling for oil on Southfork, which he was! They said that at his funeral --- what the hell were they talking about??
Quite often I found it very hard not to. Maybe his methods weren’t exactly the most sincere but so many times I felt he was justified in his thinking.I found myself rooting for JR more often than anyone else.
Would love to hear more........There is more, but that suffices for now
JR was right to shut down that oil well which made Cliff Barnes a partner of the Ewings. Given how Cliff made their lives hell including trying to send Jock to prison for murder, JR was in the right here.
If it had been Digger who came into JR's office with the document that would have been OK since he signed it and had no animosity toward the entire family just Jock. And that was one of the top producing wells at the time. He’d actually rather shut it down completely and lose the profits than share in those profits with Cliff. I think that speaks volumes about the man, and also about Jock for siding with him without hesitation. I have a hard time saying he was wrong if he felt that strongly about it.
I don't know. JR probably still would have shut it down, I thinkIf it had been Digger who came into JR's office with the document that would have been OK since he signed it and had no animosity toward the entire family just Jock.
JR was also right that Clayton knew his sister was unstable and should have told the Ewing about it.It was very difficult not to root for JR, however much we disliked or hated him.
He did some awful, terrible things yet somehow I always managed to feel a bit sorry for him. He had that knack of making everyone else appear in the wrong and was able to convey "little boy lost" too easily.
That's how Larry made JR so special I guess, what a gift!
I think it probably would’ve ended up going the same way anyway, the reason being once Cliff found out about the document he would’ve badgered the entire family until he gave them no choice but to shut the well down. I do get what you’re saying though. If it had been Digger who came into JR's office with the document that would have been OK since he signed it and had no animosity toward the entire family just Jock.
Also previously known as the baby and the child.(known at the time as Little John and Baby John).
I think there were times when JR's adversaries were also corrupt, and that JR had to be just as ruthless. It was very difficult not to root for JR, however much we disliked or hated him.
