I see her problems as emblematic of a show that in terms of story, character and casting was half-baked, was put on the air with a weak foundation (amnesia, the fake terminal illness, out of the blue family connections) and where Frankie's aimlessness is just a compass for all that. I think the show tried to fix a lot of its errors in the second year, but by then the ratings die was cast.</blockquote>
