Overdo it and it can look lazy and cheap. In almost any long running Universal TV series there’s generally an episode or two where a plot is either built around a device on the lot (such as the Flash Flood or the Collapsing Bridge) or characters - for whatever reason - spend a great deal of time on sets from the lot. It’s a contrivance I associate with either budget, lack of focus or just plain shark jumping. </span></span></p><p><span style="color: #000000"><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #000000"><span style="font-size: 15px">In the original series, the most blatant use of the lot and tour came in<em> Fade In To Murder</em>. But that was in the Sixth Season*. Here we are, not two episodes in to the new <em>Columbo</em> - a time when creative juices should be flowing - and we’re given an extensive tour of the lot and its attractions.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #000000"><span style="font-size: 15px"></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #000000"><span style="font-size: 15px">Our tour of the lot is so thorough, I almost feel as though I’ve done it. Why pay to visit it when I can just watch this episode?
