Let's look at @cheaproberts pictures, from a Texas history perspective. **Pulls out poster paper and felt tip pens *** It's 1960's in Dallas, Texas. The NASA Mission Control Center is an exciting spot in Houston, Texas. This is where we hear the famous phrase, "Houston, we have a problem." We were getting ready to send people to the moon! So, we were looking OUT and looking UP. Even when at home, we wanted to be OUT. This is reflected in the buildings of the day. Notice the building uses the "bringing the outside in" theme of the day. Each and every condo has big windows and an outside balcony. In fact, it is the outside balconies that draw your eye as you look at the building. Now look at the entrance. It is covered, in case of rain (or in Dallas, because of the hot sun). But although covered, it is wide open. You can see, hear, and smell the fountains while under the entrance to the building. Bringing the outside in. Nice example of Dallas architecture.
