Malcolm Hebden to take extended break from Coronation Street

Coronation Street's Malcolm Hebden will likely not be seen on the ITV soap, at least for a short period.

The 78-year-old actor is taking a hiatus from the series and isn't currently filming with the rest of the Coronation Street cast, Digital Spy has learned.


That's sad. Norris really is such a brilliant character Hope he comes back soon.

A shame to hear this although at 78 he isn't getting any younger.

Interesting also that his hiatus coincides with the soap moving to six episodes a week.

I wonder if we will ever see his tv landlady, Eileen Derbyshire back on the Corrie cobbles?

Sorry to hear this, he is one of the best on Corrie and I have always found his scenes with Rita both amusing and or touching and can bring a tear to my eye

Didnt like the rushed marriage with Mary, most un Norris like tho and not his character

Hope he gets well soon and is back on the set soon and hope his rest doesn't end up years like Emily.
