Brookside’s Louis Emerick has been cast in
Coronation Street, it has now been revealed.
ITV announced the news earlier today in a statement on their website.
The soap gave a few teasing details about his character, who will be called Mike Thornberry.
Mike will be revealed as a former school teacher of Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) and will take a shine on his mother Liz (Beverley Callard).
Steve is far from impressed when his mum starts to flirt with his old teacher.

Speaking about the role, Louis said: “I am chuffed to bits to be joining the cast of Corrie.
“I first appeared in the show in 1986 as a delivery man - it’s only taken me 32 years to be invited back!
“I can’t wait to start working alongside Simon and Beverley who I have known for years. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he gushed.
Louis had previously appeared on Coronation Street in 1986, playing a small role with Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey)
The 55-year-old is best known for his part in Brookside where he played Mick Johnson.
