The premise sounded a bit naff: an alternate Britain where blacks are in charge and whites are a subjugated minority. Somewhat patronisingly, I could see why it might make a successful series of Young Adult novels but wasn't sure I'd want to watch a series based on it, but it's really, really good. The "world" is really well realised and, obvious as it sounds, there's something genuinely startling about seeing poor white people waiting on rich black ones, with all the racism (casual and otherwise) that that implies. Your mind continually does backflips reversing the scenario back and forth. The characters are all really interesting and there is a Romeo and Juliet/Montague and Capulet dynamic at the heart of the story that totally works. It's six episodes long and disappears off the iPlayer on Friday. I'm about halfway through now and well hooked,
