This is turning out to be a must watch on a Thursday evening. Great cast, Love Alun Armstrong. They have cast the role of Jane Tennison very well. Stefanie Martini is very good. I love all the 70's stuff, the cars, the radio, the hair do's the clothes, happy days. It reminds of Ashes to Ashes.

I like the idea of doing a prequel. It works so well with Morse and Endeavour.

I've seen a lot of promotion on this show and I'm curious.

I've never seen the original show and was thinking about treating myself to the boxset one day.

Great acting, script and supporting cast with many famous and familiar names popping up

I cant believe S1 was first shown in 1991 and i used to video them all and keep, it had me on the edge of my seat and Zoe wanamaker and John Bowe were fantastic and Tom bell who looks so ill and unwell in the final season

Prime Suspect 1973 won't return for a second series, ITV confirms

Prime Suspect 1973 may have been a hit with the viewers, but the show will not be back for a second series.

ITV confirmed that the drama prequel, starring Stefani Martini as a younger Jane Tennison and adapted from Lynda La Plante's novel Tennison, had come to an end.

"We are grateful to Lynda La Plante for allowing us to adapt her brilliant book Tennison, and we were very happy with how Prime Suspect 1973 performed and the audience reaction to the series,"
