He fell in his home today. Yesterday was his birthday.

He is one of my earliest memories of General Hospital, otherwise I never watched anything with him, but I noticed that the last years of his life were not easy for him. It's a shame that he might be remembered as confused as he was portrayed by Pauly Shore recently. I hope Richard Simmons was more than just that.

I don't know much about him but i do know his name and he was on tv many times on tv-shows and played also movies, and i know he was moslty famous for his fitness motivations to other people. I only wish i had that motivation every day to work out like the way he does, I really respect people like Richard Simmons for doing that.

So sad to hear of his passing.

He was apparently tweeting on Friday, saying that he had never received so many birthday messages (perhaps because of recent media chat about his disappearance over the last few years and the Pauly Shore project).

And then, the next day, he fell.

He always seemed like a genuinely good person that enjoyed helping others with his workout videos, motivational weight loss books and speeches. I just remember him being everywhere you looked back in the 80s. He was literally on just about every talk show.

He had people worried back in March when he tweeted "I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad. I am ….dying. Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death." He followed it with a series of tweets encouraging people to count their blessings and live a healthy lifestyle.

One of the things I really liked about Richard is he never took himself too seriously. His appearance on Whose Line is it Anyway is one of the funniest moments I've ever seen:

He always seemed to be positive and generous soul who truly wanted to help people and contribute to the world in a positive way.
