Rishi Sunak Has Shafted Nurses

In the small print of this week's budget, as well as rising taxes on the incomes of the lowest paid workers, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak only budgeted for a 1% increase in pay for health care workers.

In the budget he also gave an addition £15 billion to Dido Harding's failed test and trace service on top of the £22 billion she has already been given. That £37,000,000,000 that Sunak gave to his Tory mates would pay for an £11,200 pay rise for every NHS nurse for the next ten years.

But at least he clapped for them every Thursday during the first lockdown.

That’s just ludicrous! I know many health care workers and I watch them put their lives on the line every day. A 1% increase is nothing more than a slap to the face in my opinion.

Six Things The Government Spent Money On Instead Of A Pay Rise For NHS Staff

1. £2.6m: Refurbishment for White House-style press briefings
The Tory government has spent more than £2.6 million on renovations at Downing Street in order to hold White House-style press briefings which is little more than a vanity project for the Tories.

2. £37bn: Spending on failed Test and Trace system
£37 billion for their friends at Serco Test and Trace and just £3.50 a week for an NHS nurse. Lining the pockets of their friends is the priority of the Tories.

3. £4.4bn: Additional costs of Brexit preparations
Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union cost the taxpayer more than £4 billion in additional government costs, according to the National Audit Office. Contrast this with the £350 million a week extra for the NHS that Johnson and Sunak promised us as a Brexit dividend.

4. £150m: Millions of unusable face masks
The government paid Ayanda Capital (a company co-owned by a Tory Party donor more than £150 million of public money for 50 million masks that were unsuitable for use in the NHS.

5. £1m: Boris Johnson’s ‘Brexit plane’ gets a red, white and blue makeover
A plane used to transport the prime minister was given a red, white and blue makeover that cost £1 million. The once-grey RAF Voyager was resprayed in white, with a Union flag on the tailfin and United Kingdom written in gold on the fuselage.

6. £340,000: Payout to Home Office official after Priti Patel bullying claims
The government agreed a “substantial” payout reported to be £340,000 to settle a top civil servant’s employment tribunal claim after he quit due to Home Secretary Priti Patel’s bullying.

Don't believe the Tories when they say we can't afford to pay the nurses because they can always find money to dish out to their friends and supporters.

The nurses have helped people recover from Covid, Eat Out To Help Out caused Covid infections to rise.
