Anyone watched these series?

I am on episode 5 of Safe, about a missing girl and just watched the Stranger about a missing wife.

Both set in the UK.

Really enjoying both series. Jennifer Saunders is in The Stranger, in a non comic role.

I am not watching more Netflix than normal TV. Great to see these series that are normally only found on BBC or ITV.

Great cast and acting in both series.

I have watched SAFE last year and thought it was very entertaining.
THE STRANGER is on my to-watch-list. Maybe you should also watch WHAT/IF, it's also about manipulation, shocking plot twists and dirty secrets.
And DEAD TO ME, that's a real gem.

Last night I watched 2 episodes of THE STRANGER and I must say I'm not very impressed. It looks like SAFE meets BROADCHURCH, I mean, literally.
Nude pics on the internet (how very 2009), boring dialogue, lots of scene enhanching (soundtrack/slow-motion), but nothing interesting comes from the characters themselves.
It looks terribly cliché, imho.

We binge watched this last week, did you finish it?

I thought it improved with each episode and the final two episodes were really exciting stuff

No, I didn't.

Purely based on story I'm willing to give everything a try. I have aborted quite a few series from netflix (not necessarily netflix productions) but never because I assumed that nothing interesting would happen.
If the tone of the show annoys me or if I don't find a "click" with the characters then that's my cue to call it a day.

I totally get that and I've done the same many times. I also think it's about the mood I am in, sometimes I can tolerate a few bad scenes/actors/stories and there are times when I can totally think "sod this" and I quit.

There was a great drama with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant called THE UNDOING, it started off really well and yet by the third episode we quit the programme and looked up the ending to see if we made the right decision, and by going with how the storyline want, we believe our decision to quit was the right one for us.

Anyway, I loved, absolutely love THE STRANGER, great cast with some brilliant twists and a fantastic ending.

But sometimes it lingers on, like Breaking Bad. I'm SO happy that I gave it another try.
Another one is Bloodline, I just couldn't enjoy it. But there's a little voice whispering inside my head "go back willie, go back".
Alas, this is not the case with The Stranger (or Peaky Blinders or Game Of Thrones).

I remember watching the first DOWNTON ABBEY episode when it originally aired, we didn't make it to the end of that first one. It just wasn't for us.

Fast forward two years.

Then something happened that I can't remember and I went back in, only to fall in love with it and watch it twice.

Life can be very odd at times.
