Telly Talk Star
Looking to write another piece on a Dallas continuation. Would appreciate feedback.
Idea is to focus on John Ross and Chris as the original did with JR and Bobby but instead of Caine v. Abel they are Joshua and Caleb, charged to lead the next generation into the promise land, each with their own approach and often conflicting, their first enemy Jericho Wendell.
Between 2014 and the present: John Ross finished JRs masterpiece. Carlos DelSol used John Ross's trust from Jock to loan Bobby and Sue Ellen the money to buy control of Ewing Global. John Ross called in the loan there by taking control of Ewing Global. He then arranged to merge it with Ryland Transport as Harris went back to prison and John Ross helped Judith get elected to the US Senate. West Star then sold him the Ewing Oil name (as they had bought it from Sue Ellen and Bobby when JR ran the company after the 2nd movie) and John Ross recreated Ewing Oil, owning it 100% on his own. He put Chris's technolgy on the back burner and builds one of the worlds great oil and gas pure play independents. He worked out deals with West Star for refining and used his CIA contacts to create the paramilitary company Branch Water to protect rigs around the world.
Furthermore, he took direct management of the South Fork Ranch when Bobby left (see below). He also set up the JRE Enterprises to manage all his investments, selling them the diversified investments of the old Barns Global and adding to them).
JRs West Star is revealed to be in a trustfund and is shared equally by John Ross, James Beaumont, Justin Harper (Callys son with JR) and Jessica Wentworth (JRs daughter with Katherine Wentworth) and all JRs grandchildren - all possible future characters along with untold secrets. John Ross oversees the trust fund, which gives John Ross a seat on West Star's board.
Pamela became the President of JRE Enterprises with an office in Dallas where she takes up the day to day running of the business while John Ross sees to the day to day running of Ewing Oil.
The last part of JRs masterpiece sets up the Ewing Family Foundation with Sue Ellen and John Ross donating their share of the South Fork mineral rights to it. Bobby and Gary agree to donate their share. Bobby and John Ross also agree to donate the ranch's land to the foundation for safe keeping with the cattle operation getting a $1 a year lease. In exchange for protecting the ranch Bobby sells his 1/2 of the house to John Ross. They still share the cattle business and Bobby gets the cottage out back. Sue Ellen sees to the day to day running of the foundation.
Chris recovers for years from the explosion. Bobby gets a letter from JR that Pam is alive and sets off to find her. Ann moves to Virgina with Emma.
The movie: Chris moves into Bobby's cottage outback of South Fork. A family and friends barbecue welcomes him home (opposit of Pam's welcome in '78). John Ross lives in the big house with Pamela and his kids: Jack (John Ross Ewing IV) and other toddlers as well as Sue Ellen who moved in to help with her grandchildren. Bobby shows up in the middle of his search for Pam to welcome Chris home. There's talk of the annual rodeo next week. Old family friend Amy Anderson (Punk and Mavis's granddaughter, member of the DOA and tireless charity worker) shows up with her cousin Jericho Wendell (Chairman of the super major CalcoHarwood Corporation). Every guest star they can get from the original and names of the seen and unseen next generation show up to establish this as Dallas, talk about the intervening years, show off the exterior of South Fork as well as the return of the original interior and give snippets of what's to come.
Morning breakfast by the pool with John Ross, Pamela, Sue Ellen and the kids as Chris joins them with Amy. Eye brows are raised. She's in the same outfit as last night. John Ross reads in the WSJ that CalcoHarwood has made a big to acquire West Star in a hostil take over. The first fight should be with outsiders. After insulting Jericho for showing up to his house and not saying anything and Amy defending her cousin John Ross goes off to work to over see some cattle arriving that morning. And they off to the races.
