[QUOTE="soapfan, post: 423601, member: 354"] I've been thinking about soap theme tunes, I can only speak for Coronation Street and EastEnders in particular in better detail. Coronation Street always retained its consistent theme tune, it never used other themes instruments such as a saxophone like EastEnders did at one point. Eric Spear was the composer who did the theme tune for Coronation Street, who passed away after Coronation Street's first few years or so, and I know that EastEnders had Leslie Osborne (who passed away earlier on) who worked alongside Simon May at EastEnders, where Simon May who is still alive and well to this very day still continues to compose the theme tune for EastEnders. It's almost like despite Eric Spear passing away earlier on, he had left a lasting legacy in a sense, and with EastEnders, it could be considered similarly that it was more Leslie Osborne who did the same thing and how Simon May retained the continuity more than anything. Otherwise, from what I remember of Emmerdale Farm/Emmerdale, for it's first 20 years or so, the theme tune was slow, and all of a sudden it became fast-paced, and then it has had the theme tune(s) of the last 27 years since 1998. With Hollyoaks, I remember it's original creation and theme/titles, then it got changed into some alternate theme, then slowly returning to being more traditional like when it when first began, altering from being fast paced to slowed pace as it presently is.
