Telly Talkers are on a mission!

Telly Talk.png

Top Characters.png

That mission is to discover Telly Talk’s favourite fictional TV character of all time. To find out who that will be, we will go through a series of events. Each event will concentrate on one decade, apart from the first decade (the 50s), including any character created in that decade and before.

Each mission will last two weeks.

Once all missions have concluded, we will vote on the best characters of the 20th century and the best characters of the 21st century.
Our final mission will be the throw both centuries together and vote for the ultimate character.

If you wish to join this mission.
• Vote by listing your top 20 characters for that decade.
• Maximum of one character per show.
• 20 characters is the max, but any less than 20 is perfectly fine.
• Minimum requirement is to list your character and the TV programme they are from.
• You can include your reasons behind each character, but it is not compulsory.
• The character must be introduced on or after the 1st of January at the beginning of each decade.
• All characters are included, whether they are animated, computer-generated, alien, muppet, puppet, or animal.
• Any show, any genre, any country.
• Fictional characters only.

Mission Five

90s.png

Please vote your favourite characters from the ‘90s by listing up to 20 characters by name and the TV programme they are from. If you wish to include your reasons, feel free to do so.
Last day for voting
Saturday
22nd May

Please remember to start with the character's name followed by the show they come from. :ty:

Only two from that decade do it for me:

--Dr. Mark Sloan, Diagnosis Murder (Dick Van Dyke)
--Captain Kathryn Janeway, Star Trek: Voyager (Kate Mulgrew)

Great choice!
Queer As Folk
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one ...
Emergency Room
and that one ...
Dawson's Creek
and that one (Joey was my least favourite character though - well, after Jack's sister: she was unbearable)
Edgar “Egg” Cook from This Life
Aw, good old Egg. That's a tough series to choose a best character from. They were all so good.

Great choice!

Thanks. I'd considered Alex Barth as well, but I especially like what Lance Guest brought to the series. He was this everyman in blue jeans who'd strolled into a Shakespearean melodrama and could see the soapy dysfunction for what it was. His character showed such interesting facets in existing characters like Claudia, Kate and Greg.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one ...

Easily done, with it coming along as we were gearing up for the Noughties.

Aw, good old Egg. That's a tough series to choose a best character from. They were all so good.

Absolutely.

KNOTS LANDING's Dianne Kirkwood and L.A. LAW's Rosalind Shays debuting in the last few weeks of 1989.
:15:
I was really tempted to sneak in Danny Sharpe, who debuted on FALCON CREST on 15/12/89, and hope no-one would notice. In fact, I definitely would have if I hadn't recalled the existence of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER at the last minute.

I'm really confused. How come you can vote for JR in 90's tv but we couldn't vote for Sue Ellen in 80's tv as Dallas started in the 70's? :fp::shifty:

Surely that must be the name of a drag queen character?

Such bravado, but I'm afraid I'm too goody two-shoes to even consider a thing like that.
