Because of the ridiculous world we live in, I always find it refreshing when women with an objective point of view join the conversation. The woke tend to think the worst of men, especially the straight and white variety. You don't even have to be accused of a sex crime for them to think the worst of you. If you simply believe that people shouldn't make a rush to judgement because accusers don't always tell the truth and elites are looking for any excuse to take down their critics, they will call you a misogynist, an incel, and will even try to censor you in some cases. So what do they think of women who are also calling for due process and not jumping to conclusions? My guess is they label them internalized misogynists and victims of the patriarchy. Of course, many of these "believe women" types quickly abandon that principle once someone they admire is accused.

Here's an article written by a woman with an objective point of view. As she put it, "to believe all women is as bad as to believe none:"

Larissa Nolan: To believe all women is as bad as to believe none – in that it renders the truth itself as meaningless

Opinion by Larissa Nolan

I remember reading Russell Brand’s memoir in Easons at Dublin Airport in the mid-2000s.

It was called My Booky Wook, and it was diabolical. This wasn’t the story of a libertine dandy, or a free-love hippie. It was more like 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade.

I read it all, mesmerised by the endless, disposable conquests and base carnality, but I baulked at buying it. So you can imagine I wasn’t shocked to hear the allegations of rape and sexual assault against the big-haired, big-mouth star.

The surprise is that they’re only being made now, six years on from the #MeToo movement.

As he’s said himself, they are “very serious allegations” and come after a years’ long joint media investigation. He has denied the claims, saying while he was promiscuous, it was always consensual.

They’re fairly explosive. One accuser has a medical report from a rape crisis center and a text from Brand apologizing.

There’s talk of the “open secret” that Brand was a predator, hiding “In Plain Sight” as the TV expose was called. But do I think we should label Brand a rapist and ruin his life, career and reputation? Absolutely not.

It’s open season on Brand now – I’ve heard him compared to Jimmy Savile and Bill Cosby, and called everything from a pariah to a monster to a devil.

I can’t stand all this The Crucible stuff playing out for our entertainment. Anyone who has seen Daniel Day-Lewis in Arthur Miller’s play will recognise the parallels in the anguish of the accused John Proctor when he cries out: “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life!”

It’s not progressive, as it likes to think, but brings us back centuries. On occasion, public figures have been accused, their lives destroyed, and then turned out in the end to be cleared of all charges.

It’s far better for all involved that such investigations go to the police and the courts, where the full truth will out. I believe firmly in the presumption of innocence, which used to be a fundamental principle of left/liberal politics.

It’s listed as Article 11 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states every human being is innocent until proven guilty.

It’s the basis of civilization, whenever taken away, it has led to all the darkest times in humanity’s history. To me, it’s sacrosanct, and whatever I thought about Brand, or what he’s accused of, should not change that.

I believe in Blackstone’s Ratio, named after 18th century jurist William Blackstone, who said: “Better that 10 guilty men escape than one innocent suffer.”

I will never support this new standard of “guilty because accused” and along with it, the nonsense mandate of “I believe her” or “Believe all women”.

To believe all women is as bad as to believe none – in that it renders the truth itself as meaningless. We cannot live in a society of “guilty because accused” with the person pointing the finger always viewed to be virtuous and right, and the person at whom it is pointing at automatically guilty.

It makes no sense and is open to exploitation and abuse, intentional or otherwise. In a culture where the definition of rape has been broadened out to include regret sex, drunken sex and sex where the man has not asked you: “Are you OK?” with every step of an encounter, it’s no wonder some women don’t even know if they have been raped or not.

He may turn out to be guilty, time will tell. But so far, the accusations against Brand, while shocking, are not proven.

Audi alterem partem – hear the other side.

Here's another woman the woke will likely find "problematic." Commentator Kim Iversen talks about how YouTube is using these allegations to prevent Brand from making money off of his videos, despite the fact that they're making money off of them. Iversen states this is also wrong because Brand's only been accused and didn't use his YouTube channel to commit a crime. She also points to the fact that these women didn't come forward themselves or even go to the police. Instead, journalists contacted them. Regardless of what one thinks of Brand politically or even as a person, there should be enough here for people to at least be reflective and ponder the validity of the charges.

Kathy Griffin and Amy Schumer have jumped on the Russell Brand bashing bandwagon. They're proclaiming that this is exclusively a problem with male entertainers. As Griffin put it, "You don’t hear this stuff about Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Sarah Silverman, or Wanda Sykes. You know what you hear about my contemporaries? You hear that they’re 'difficult’ or ‘bossy’ or whatever, and the one I get all the time is ‘expensive.’" Of course, Griffin and her contemporaries don't just have the fact that they're female in common. They also happen to be neoliberal Democrat Biden supporters. That makes them a protected class, which is a luxury not afforded to anti-establishment outsiders. Anti-establishment women generally aren't accused of sex crimes, but they do receive a ton of vitriol online. Susan Sarandon had smear pieces written about her in mainstream rags and was called filthy names on social media for not supporting Hillary Clinton. Griffin herself tweeted "F*** you" to Jill Stein and her supporters. So much for civility.

Schumer responded to Griffin's post by saying “I love you. I hope to some day earn as much as the rapists and transphobes in the game. Also, it’s just a part of my story that I have taken jokes from other comics, and I have never in my life, not even once, done that. We have to just fight for ourselves. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Love you Kath.” I find this to be a rather disingenuous and pathetic comparison. For starters, being accused of being a joke thief is not even remotely as serious as being accused of rape. Secondly, there is irrefutable video evidence on YouTube of Schumer doing bits and sketches that had been done earlier by different performers. That fact that she found a way to make this about herself is pretty slimy, especially since she went about it in a dishonest way. Sadly, there are no shortage of suckers out there who will find her brave for this.

I may be burying the lede here, but Griffin also claims Brand groped her friend. What a shocker that she's just now getting around to revealing that.

It reminds me of the saying "What's the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth? About six months."

At this rate, it's more like six days. It's as if the people who roll their eyes at cynics and skeptics have only been on Earth for a day. Did they really not see this coming?

Yes, it's just intellectual laziness. And something easily tapped into and relied upon by the real misinformation agents.

Yeah, when Kathy Griffin got absurdly trounced on for her pie-plate-with-ketchup-on-it stunt, few if any -- including Griffin herself -- pointed out that Trump's friends, and even Trump himself, had no-so-subtly hinted at Hillary being assassinated (the White House later disavowed this, but it was obviously what he meant and everybody knew it) which seems a lot worse than a tomato-smeared paper plate.

Griffin didn't point out that it was because she was a lefty that created the double standard. She shifted the motive for it to her gender, which wasn't smart -- even strategically. So the cancellation worked, with even her pseudo-liberal pals turning on her, getting out of the line of fire.

Shumer is just as dirty grifter.

True, but I assumed the pseudo-left also turned on Griffin because they pretend to care about civility and decorum. Even Chelsea Clinton called the photo "vile and wrong."

The funny thing is they're all terrible people in their own way, but they still pretend to have some semblance of standards.

Hmmmm... But they eschew that semblance of standards in so many ways.

I think the pseudo-left went after Griffin just as a reaction of cowardice. And they -- and she -- never countered by pointing out Trump's "kill Hillary" hints because they're so busy stupidly attacking/defending whomever they attack/defend, that legitimate points of argument escape them.

Self-righteous indignance always trumps a solid point, no matter how accessible. (I prefer it myself!)

Yes, nobody would ever mistake them for having integrity or consistency.

Cowardice? I'm not sure what they were afraid of it. The pseudo-left mocked Trump 24/7, so I don't understand why Trump's fake severed head was indefensible to them. That's why the only thing I could think of is they were enforcing a cherry-picked set of standards. But yes, they've never been able to form cogent attacks or defenses of people.

Playing identity politics is what the pseudo-left does. I'm not sure why they'd punish Griffin for that. Pointing out double standards between the left and right isn't their thing.
