The deadly wine.

Should FALCON CREST have had a death by tainted wine? I know Snarky had the idea that tainted produce somewhere along the line would have contributed to the unbalanced behaviour / illness of certain characters from season 3 forward. In the fourth season the discovery was made that Chase’s sparkling wine was poisoned, at the bottling stage. They should have gone down this route and have had Angela serve the bad wine at one of her parties. In typical style a main character would have gone to the great vineyard in the sky but whom?

The Tuscany Valley residents are gathered at a function, to remember Chase who is presumed drowned in the San Francisco bay, (a scene from season 7, 1987-’88):

Fr. Curtis: “Could I have everybody’s attention please! I would like to thank you all for coming and for sharing with the Gioberti family, in celebrating the memory of Chase.”

Angela: “Thank you Father! Everyone in the Valley knew how Chase and I felt about each other but despite our differences he was family and he was a Gioberti. So he will be honoured as such. I present this gift to his family, as a reminder how much he meant to each and everyone of us.”

The plaque reads: ‘CHASE GIOBERTI – YOU WILL BE MISSED’.

I didn’t like Nicole Sauget at all, so she could have taken wine mixed with arsenic, for all I cared. A dreadful despicable guest character, in every way, at the risk of being overly harsh.

Hush... Hush, Sweet Chardonnay

Yes, I wanted Kim Novak and her pilot to burst into flames from drinking a tainted bottle of FC's finest, their plane crashing into the mansion while Angela reads that letter about Baby Richard being kidnapped by Jacqueline and Douglas (so the mansion can get a do-over, re-gothicized, for S7) while Chase goes diving into Frisco Bay never to emerge.

A major S7 plotline would be that this tainted chardonnay vintage is causing people to burst into spontaneous human combustion (I mean, you couldn't do that on KNOTS) and Angela trying to cover it up. Later, the family learns that Jacqueline's toxic, post-war nuclear waste dump under the estate has leached into the chardonnay, causing the problem. And that the radioactivity has played a role in Maggie's Season 3 brain tumor, Julia's and Emma's just-diagnosed brain tumors and the mental illness it caused both Angela's daughters, and Melissa's increasingly odd behavior (only she refuses treatment). Maggie also realizes this was the main reason Jacqueline was always trying to dissuade Chase and his family from staying at Falcon Crest -- even though the Gioberti house wasn't nearly as close to the dump as Angela's.

I'm serious. I woulda done it. I got it all worked out.

As great a villian as he was Gustav should possibly have taken the altered wine, accidentally. It would have been karma because it was his people who did the posioning in the first place. Nicole was ok, at least she didn't outstay her welcome.

And brain tumors could explain Melissa's psychiatric downturn, her believing her demonic baby was an alien offspring after her supposed abduction (more appropriate for FC than DYNASTY).

But Season 7 is the year i most redo and uber-gothicize in my head.

A couple of years ago, I posted about dream I'd had in which the Channings and Giobertis were dining on the terrace at dusk of a Tuscany Valley bistro when all of a sudden, like something out of Hitchcock, a group of very large birds swept down and attacked them, possibly carrying one of them off into the air for several feet.

It was quite dramatic and spooky.

Which season would this serve as a great finale? (Or perhaps the entire series' ending?)

And what would the explanation be? (I'd like to connect it to that collection of nuclear waste Jacqueline Perrault buried under the vineyards which I also made up but they never actually did).

Yes, smells like Season 7's finale.

And the giant birds are soon followed up by giant scorpions emerging from the Tuscany reservoir and surrounding the mansion. Only Emma isn't frightened.
