When I read the book Bad Blood by John Carreyrou about 2 years ago and couldn't help thinking it would make a great film so when I heard that it was going to be made into a mini-series called The Dropout I was keen to watch it. Now, I've seen it, I think my original thoughts were correct: it would have made a great film but spinning the story out over 8 one hour episodes was probably not the best creative decision. However, it's still a very good docu-drama about how Elisabeth Holmes duped many investors to part with their money to fund her healthcare company Theranos.

I thought the best part of the book was how ex-employees Tyler Schultz and Erica Chung exposed the fraud and I would have like to have seen more focus on them and their story. Maybe that's an angle a future film could take. For all its faults, the series is well worth watching because it tells such a compelling story.

I agree. For a short run the episodes were kind of long and a bit meandering. Just because you have the freedom to do longform content doesn't mean you should. I thought the story was interesting and I enjoyed the show but I did find myself wanting the 1.5x button like Netflix has.
