I've just finished episode 7.
It's insane & fascinating. Crazier than many soap. I mean, it's real and yet, bigger than life. I loved it.

It's factual. This is not a drama series based on facts. There are interviews and factual footage with those involved in the tiger industry in America.

So it's not people playing themselves, like the Kardashians?
No and yes.
No because it was shot between 2016 and 2019 If I am correct and it's way more a documentary than a real TV.
Some people involved here were surely not as natural as you can be. You know, when a camera is rolling, people change a bit. Or a lot. But nothing like the kardashians.
Yes because Joe Exotic lives his life like a crazy, beyond reality character, so....

There was a time when documentaries used to be boring and the (intellectual) people who watched them were usually not interested in fictional "trash".
I can see the appeal of the modern, mainstream documentaries but at the same time, the manipulating, glammed up and sensationalizing approach of those very things that don't need to be glammed up or sensationalized diminishes the mystery and peculiarity and shock value of the story. I'm not saying that it's all false and pretence, but it inadvertently creates that feel. For me, anyway.
Kinda like aiming a spotlight at the sun.

Ah, I had thought the docu-series was an re-enactment of factual events by actors. And one knows how much poetic license can be had with that -- which may be really why Carole is upset with producers even though Imdb tells me she appeared as herself. She has issues with the approach they took. (An interview with her dropped into my YouTube feed after I watched Joe Exotic being interview from jail by Stephen Colbert).
And now I've just seen this....
(*sigh* I got the wrong link ...about the mauling of Kelci Saffery at Joe's petting park; and allegations of animal cruelty, including the ineptitude of the person who needed to use 5 bullets to shoot a horse in the head.)
....and wonder how much discussion of the issues around this is included in this series about the American tiger industry?
Perchance Netflix's Tiger King has been edited to deliberately mine a cold case of a puzzling disapperance? To play more like a whodunnit in the suspected deliberate hiding of the body of Don Lewis for nefarious reasons? (Despite there being no body, a judge declared him dead 5 years after his disapperance.)
Does Netflix's Tiger King seem to want to follow in the footsteps of Netflix's The Disapperance of Madeleine McCann? The latter made a new claim never heard publicly before: that she fell into the sea and had to be fished out on the morning of the day she disappeared; something her parents never publicly mentioned in all those years of interviews and diary & book-writing & documentary-making -- yet coincidentally 1 member of the holiday group also claimed to have tumbled in the waters that day and needed to be rescued by another member of the travel group + other oddities & discrepancies in who reported what relating to that day. I read that people keep mentioning the strangeness of Don Lewis' will, is there some new claim about that in the series or other new stuff?

If the police/the FBI/whoever solves the Don Lewis case, and they find out that Carole Baskin is responsible, I'm almost sure that she will claim :
