Sue Ellen wanted her son not to turn out like his father, and that is what is prompting her trying to scare Emma into stopping her act. Her motherly love always trumped all other instincts. It's also a shame they cut the scene not just for the history but for Emma's great comeback (the actress was amazing and, as many eventually were, wasted).</blockquote>
